chip help!!!!
I have a 93 z28. I am trying to use a G1(ZIF/Chip/Adapter ) with an AT29C256 chip from www.moates.net. I burned it with a BDLD (same as stock) file and tried to install it and every time I put it in the fans turn on and stay on and the car will not run. The car runs fine with the stock mcal in.
Any one know why this is happening? Any help would be great thanks

This is happening because your bin is not valid. There are a number of potential causes:
1) You didn't burn the bin to the appropriate location on the chip. This likely isn't your problem as you're using a 32K bin on a 32K chip.
2) The checksum is invalid. Make sure it's correct.
3) You're putting the chip in backwards in the G1 or is misaligned in the G1 ZIF
4) Your G1 is not pushed down all the way
5) The chip is not making proper contact in the G1

I'm not an expert on 4th Gens, but I was under the impression that they had a 64K bin because they had a PCM, not an ECM. If so, a "256" is not large enough. You need a "512".

Mangus,
I checked every thing and it looks like I am doing every thing correctly. Can you think of any thing else I should try or check.
Also do I have to use my own stock BDLD file or can I just throw any BDLD file on my new chip and it work?
Thanks
