PROM DIY 'Package'

I have read the stickys and various other posts, but I haven't seen posts that have a 'package' of everthing you need to start and where to buy it. While the stickys are very informative and comprehensive of the things you need, there are so many options out there to sort thru. Is anyone willing to put together a hardware/ software package in a good, better, best format??

Burner, eraser, chip, cables, software, etc-- everything needed to start (minus the computer obviously). I don't mean to actually market it, but just in a sticky or post.

Finding all the stuff is more intimmidating to me than actually burning the chips.

DIY PROM means do-it -yourself :-)

Hit the stickies and check out TunerCat(which I like and use) and TunerPro(nother neat editor) as far as modfiying your stock tables.

Craig Moates site, also linked has burners and the ostrich and the autoprom(dont wuote me here) and everything else u would need form chips and sockets to cables.

If u do a search here, you will find a million more posts and links with info.

Personally, I use Tunercat and have a pocket prog. 2 and a Romulator w/ all necessatry chips and adapaters.

Read Trax's intro to prom bunring for more info as well

Thanks, this is more of what I was looking for.

My daughters swing set, even being sold as a DIY project, still had a list of the lumber and hardware I would need to build it. Didn't have to figure it out completely on my own.

And you paid for that convenience.

Would you like a refund of the thirdgen.org fees you paid?

This is how I did it.

My example is based on a speed-density $8D mask. So if you are not using a 90-92 speed-density, you will need to research more on the ECM, mask, bin and ECU file that you will need.

Good luck, Ed

Thanks Edges. That is what I was looking for-- a little more specific starting point.

Thanks again

You post a whiny message, you can expect a blindingly obvious answer.

And given your struggles just figuring out what to buy, I'd say the actual tuning process is going to be real head-banger for you.

Hey Kevin, I think you need to lighten up! I didnt read anything that was considered whiny. If you dont want to give an obvious answer, then whats the f*****g point in askin a question? Not all of us are born, or hatched, with the knowledge or experience in tuning our own proms. So the next time you want to insult someone here p*ss off!

BTW, thanx edge, that article was a good help.
