Here we go again... sort of...
Well I tried the 8d to $58 swap and it did not work out so well..
1st of all I was not able to get tunerpro to connect, Does anyone know of a BCC $58 that is not chatty and connects easily?
2nd I was not able to get the car to fire. I have 60lb injectors and have changed the bpw vs egr to the proper amount. What other areas would you recommend changing to get this puppy to start?
I also tried reversing the IAC Back to the 8D wiring and trying to start it but no luck.
I had to move the car so I repinned to 8d and put the 1bar sensor back in and it fired up but it had a miss for a little while then it went away. I would think this is because there was already some fouling of the sparkplugs from not being able to start with the $58 code. (too much fuel for crank in $58 ??)
I would appreciate feedback from those that have done the swap and what were your hurdles that you had to overcome to get the $58 running right.
I have read the $58 faq and other posts and have already cut back on my AE to 300 across the board.
Thanks
Tom

Couple of things I"m working on right now with the $58 code.
1. Obviously BPC vs. EGR setting, not as easy as some would think to get set right, current setting for me, with approx. 45 lb/hr injectors is .062, it's what the car likes the most, and blms hover right around 128 in most conditions.
2. Decel enleanment tables. I just posted a topic referring to the problem I'm having when shifting the car, and backfiring is occuring, trying to get rid of that, neighbors don't like the sound too much at 1am.
3. Tunerpro does connect, just have to send the silence ecm command a bunch of times, sometimes a ton of times to get 0 error counts.
Make sure you set initial timing in $58 code to what your currently running, one code I got had it set at 12 for some reason.

One other item,
Initially when I was trying the first $58 chips I was getting a rapidly fickering ses light and the fan was on, which I took as Limp Home Mode. Figured I did not place bin in proper palce on chip or compile etc. so...
I re did the burns and then the fickering ses light disappeared, however, the fan is still on when you initally turn the ignition on. Am I still in LHM? Or maybe just a fan setting.

When you first key-on, does the SES light do the blink-off? It must do this as a verification that the EPROM is correct. The blink is as such: key-on, engine-off, SES comes on, blinks off for about 1/2 second, then comes on solid. If that doesn't happen, forget it.

Update:
I found my chip problem was checksum, for whatever reason with tunerpro I was getting error in ck sum. If I burnt an exsisting bin, I got the single flash then steady. So I Used promgrammer and manually entered checksum and works with my changes single flash then steady on no fans....
I was not able to connect with tunerpro rt 4.0, however I was able to connect with tunerpro ft 3.10, just I was not seeing any listings in the tables but it was recording them, weard....
Now, I can get the car to fire, however, must feather the gas and it is missing, one again probably too much fuel, going to change a few items to see if I can at least get this thing in the ballpark.

If you go into the preferences window of TP 4 the box for disabling the checksum is not checked by default like it is in 3.10. I had the same problem connecting until i selected it.

Dumb question here, hopefully you'll forgive me...
Why would you want to go to $58 when you had 8d? I thought the spped density $8d was supposed to be more appealling......

Probably going to $58 for the boosted application.
download the newest ald from www.nwstp.com
We are updating them regularly, although some of the 2 bar data is changed to 3bar, we will add it back very soon.
You will notice it has the silence command available. The 749 ads that comes with tunerpro does not.
Without silience, connecting can be a challenge.
Sounds like you are making progress though.
One note, if the 749 goes into a limp mode, due to bad checksum, bad upload, etc you won't be able to connect no matter how hard you try.
Been there a few times myself.
