165' to 2bar map using 7749 coding NOT ECM SWAP

hi,
Iam from australia and recently stubled across a website for some software i wouldnt mind buying, its the Kalmaker stuff.
Anyhow on their website they say how people in the states are swapping their 165 with 7749 ecm to gain 2bar map, how ever they over came this problem by using 7749 codeing. Aparantly the 7749 and 165 are very similar (in my case its the 808) and thus they use the codeing from the 7749 and placed it in the 808.
Now can anyone tell me if they have a bin for a 165 with a 2bar map???
If not how hard would it be to do what is desribed above, im not very bright with the binary side of things and swaping code, these guys which did it are the best, so how hard would it be. and can anyone hear help me or do it them selves.
I would buy a 7749 computer but we do not have these in australia and there is none on ebay.
thanks in advance.

I know some are using the 5D code with the 165ECM and just cut all the values to 1/2 and then using a 2bar map...instead of a 1bar map....

You could also get a 1227730 ECM and Use the $58 code, and the 730ECM are easy to find at ex ebay....

There was a post in one of the stickies on this forum with the $5d code for a blower application like gta324 mentioned above.

There's also a well-priced Kalmaker and computer on Ebay at the moment.

And I have a 749 that I'd sell if I can buy another ECM I'm interested in. I'm in Sydney.

hi,
That sounds like what i am after, especialy if i could grab the finished .bin file, unfortunatly ive cheaked the stikies and used the serch function but could not find the thread containing this, does anyone know which one it is or where i can find it.
The $5D is the codeing the commodores use over hear with the '808 and 1 bar MAP. Does the 1 bar and 2 bar MAP sensors use the same output voltage range??
GTA324---> What do you mean by cut all the values to one half??
John L ---> let me know if you put that ecm up for sale.
Oh if someone finds the post with the 2bar map stuff and the ansers to my above questions are answered in that then just paste a link to it.
thanks

It's been some years ago, but at one time Kalmaker, closed it's doors, and disappeared. They were gone for quit some time, just leaving their customers, hi, and dry.

I don't have anything to do with Kalmaker stuff, but it's retailed in Australia by Alan Gibbs now, not the original designer. I've only ever heard good reports on his knowledge and helpfullness- including to a friend of mine who bought a Kalmaker kit.

Yes, it's in the stickies under 165 to MAP conversion using 808 code. You look on the third page where there are posts by Joby saying how he did this on a friend's car.

Yes both 1bar ond 2 bar uses 0-5v range so

With a 2bar sensor ar 1bar is 2.5volts and
With a 1bar sensor 2.5v is 0.5bar thats why you need to cut all you values to half in your bin, Joby has a *.bin file that this has been done to, maybe he has a ECU file to?

The problem with this is how the code is written. You really need to make sure every portion of the code that looks at map voltage is altered.

The more I tinker with code, the more I wish people would get involved in starting from scratch and writing in C. I could write a lot of the calculation and math routines, but I'm not too good with the 165/730/749 hardware addressing.

I know guys running a 2 bar MAP with 165 ECM and $5D code, so its possible.

JoBy was involved in the tuning and I think the *.bin file is on his webpage somewhere if someone wants it.......
