MasTach cable, says no signal from ECM???

What gives, I followed the hookup diagram exactly how they illustrated. The diagnosic says the cable is working properly, but it fails to get a reading from the ecm. Anyone experience something similar with the mastach cable? This is kind of pissing me off. I would really like to see what is going on in there

Thanks

Will

What software are you running?
Check the comm port settings, that's usually the culprit.
If your using a USB to serial adapter there could be problems with that as well.
Lot of people having issues with them.

Some programs also won't run under Windows. ECM852, for example, needs to run in DOS mode and doesn't support an USB adapter.

I tried every program they gave me, at least 10 and a few others I had laying around. The serial port is correct because the cable diagnostic recognizes it. The damn thing just acts like theres no ecm

Do you have 10K between pins A & B of your ALDL connector or cable? Your '89 needs this.
