alright, ive been trying to work out this ALDL connection for awhile now and its blowing my mind, just someone answer me this

is it safe to assume theres no actual way of telling what hardware will work on what computer, or operating system, etc etc etc and its all just trial and error until you find something?

ive been reading thru tons and tons of posts, and for every guy that says X combination wont work, theres a guy thats using it saying it will.. and after the first 2 computers i thought this aldl convertor must be broke
until it passed the aldl_test fine with a usb->serial on this laptop.. but WinALDL wont touch it... played with another program called Freescan though (which isnt useful to me apparently) that doesnt have a problem using it

nothing is adding up and im thinking all this software is just a mess.. is there anything besides WinALDL I can use to log a TBI ECM?

 

When i hade the 7747 ecm and mastach with winaldl it dident read the datastream on blue(160baud)but on red(8192baud)
The 7747 is a 160 baud tbi ecm.
I dont now if it helps.

 

yes I had the same thing here, though im not even sure what ECM i have yet ('89 L03)

does WinALDL try and pick up data if it says "unable to open com"?? thats a bullsh*t error since everything else can use it

anyways went out and tried TunerPro RT with this combo of stuff and at least had it talking to my ecm, using the 8192 wire though, i dont know maybe tunerpro doesnt even support 160? whatever it seemed to be working
im not sure which .ads file to use, or which .xdf file but im assuming its 8746, but i havent found an .ads file for that

 

If its right you have an 305 L03 (vin=E) and 8746 ecm.
Thry the ads i sent you for tunerpro(160 baud works)dont now if ads file work,cant test.
About winaldl it most be somthing in the configuration or
in com setup on the pc(read about it dont remember where).
The ads for you is Ao83.ds
