16 ppr hall effect sensor

i have an autometer hall effect sensor that puts out 16 pulse per rev. currently i am not running a VSS on my car since i switch to autometer gauges. If i remember the stock cluster puts out 4k PPR or something like that. is there anyway that i can make the hall effect sensor to put out the correct ppr like changing the speedo gear or do i need to go with a digital dakota box. i also am running a t56 if that makes any difference. thanks

if i remember correctly, stock is 4000 pulses per _mile_.

if your setup is giving you 16 pulses per DS rev, you need to figure out how many pulses per mile it's giving you to figure out what you need to do.

sometimes GM used a "DRAC" which could convert pulses as well, and they can be found in the salvage yard. unfortunately i don't seem to have any of these threads about the DRAC in my subscribed threads, and with search currently down I can't locate any for you.

Here is the link to the DRAC modification thread.

Might do the job.
4 PPR comes out to the 4000 per mile IIRC.
Sounds like there should be a way to use it.
The "Optical" VSS input uses pin "C6" on the 730 and wants a 5 VDC square wave input. The pulse count "appears" to be much higher than the mag sensor but I don't exactly know what it is.
The $8D code uses a multiple of 461 divisor (461, 922, & 1382) on it to come up with "Road Speed Pulse" multiplier value. Don't know all the details how its working. There was a thread discusing it previously but I don't have it bookmarked.
