Definition of PROM-computer chip that holds performance data the car uses to run.
PROM burners are people that take and modify this data to tune their engines to the ragged edge of performance. Each car is different and by tuning the PROM's, we can shave tenths off our quarter time and make our cars get better fuel economy/faster ET's etc.
