Hi 88, besides the 86-89 5.0 & 5.7 TPI "F" & "8" Vin codes, here are some alternatives:

86 2.0 L4 TBI "P" LQ5 w/MT
87-91 truck 2.5 L4 TBI "E" LN8
91 truck 2.5 L4 TBI "A" L38.

I am not certain, but the 6E only came out in the 89 TPI vehicles to the best of my knowledge. Hopefully, someone may know of another vehicle with the 6E.

Also, whether the above vehicles used 32 or 32B I cannot say. The eprom is easily re-programable and I believe there are BINs available for the 6E and 32B. The difficulty with the memcal from other engines is the ESC filter possibly.

I asked the question if a Corsica/Berretta/Lumina SD memcal could be reprogrammed to work on my car, and I was informed that no one has actually tried it, but the ESC filter may cause problems and was advised not to try it unless the memcal was a "freebie" and it was strictly to "experiment". I am still debating about doing that as I would like to pick up a spare ecm and this would cost me nothing. If there was a problem, I would expect to trigger a code 42/43/52 or see massive knock retard occur.

I bought one from a 89 s10 mt and was able to use an 89 ecm bin(thermomaster with 24.9#inj. no vats) on it and it work ok no codes but, it just did not run as well as my stock 88 chip why do you suppose that happened it did not wan't stay running at idle after I warmed it up. my second question is how many times do you normally get to reprogram your eproms. and when they get programed and erased too many times how do you know this. do they just stop erasing? wel after 3 times that is what this one just did.

I also wanted to note that I use the data erase II so it does shut off at the end of the erase time (2) how ever I tried erasing 3 times and all of these last three times it does not erase.

The datarase does not always erase quick enough.....especially when the eprom is further away from the uv light than normal....sometimes it takes longer with the memcal because it is further away from the uv light... clean the window and retry............sometimes it takes a few minutes.

It takes my Datarase 15minutes to erase my MemCals ... sometimes 20.

BTW - using an S10 memcal in place of the F-Body MemCal isn't the best idea. If your car goes into limp-home mode due to a problem with your PROM then you will be screwed. The ESC filter won't be optimal for your setup either.
