Knock at shift points???

When making a data record at the track I see that my ecm is seeing knock when I shift. I speed shift the car @ around 6300 rpm. My decay rate is 3 deg per knock count and it pulls 6 deg out 1-2 shift, 3 deg 2-3 and none for 3-4. I think this might be false knock since I am speed shifting and it never sees knock any other time. Anyone have opinions?

speed shift as in power shift? i think of power shifting as 2 things (both are prolly wrong since im young )

1. flooring it, hitting clutch with gas still down and shifting as fast as u can with gas still down so u dont f-up ur engine

2. not using clutch which is death for ur engine/tranny

im assuming ur doin #1 since #2 is just plain retarded.

i know nothing about knock retard or prom burning..but from what ive read i think it would most likly be false because of the excessive gas and rpms when not using a load. thats just a guess tho and its late some im trying to waste time to get tired someone correct me plz, i posted out of a in the dark guess and to make sure #1 is the same as speed shifting

I have not noticed this in my toy but i have just recently come to notice this phenomenon in my Turbo Regal. I have a 78 TR, that has a "turbo Center". this is essentially a special "electronics package" that connects to a knock sensor on the manifold & the module in the HEI. this car does the same thing when it is between shifts that yours is going. the turbo center is pulling out the timing, but i could time this with a calendar not a stop watch. I can almost hear the electrons moving in those little tranistors, they move so slow.

in any case, not sure how this is working. about the only thing i can guess is that the motor is sensing that it is working less hard & that somehow is causing it to knock. I can not imagine that the engine vacuume is changing, not appreciably @ least. so i am just as stumped as you are.

in my car it is real knock. I can back the timing out 2 degs & it does not happen.
