ARAP w/o mods to spark table?
Has anyone been running the ARAP.bin file without making mods to the spark/rpm/load table? It seems so agressive relative to the stock 89 code. I am still breaking my engine in so I am using the stock IROC 89 memcal for now. Am I being too cautious? Have any of you had any ill effects from the ARAP?

I know a few guys that have run the ARAP bin that had to lower the spark advance because it was way too high, even with aluminum heads in some cases. You're smart in being cautious while you're breaking in your engine, definitely much better than -breaking it- at this stage.
You could change to the ARAP bin and just use your stock timing table in the meantime until you're able to start seeing what your engine likes best.
If you have good aftermarket heads, they won't need as much timing advance as older iron heads required due to their efficient combustion chamber design. The LS1 engines make their best power at 28-30 degrees total timing from what I've seen...

Thanks for the response. I'm running SR Torquers at around 9.2:1 CR. The car runs well I just haven't got the time and info enough right now to get into correcting the ARAP code. It is very interesting however and if I can get my hands on enough info I'll do it.
