erasing eproms

I'm also having a problem erasing my eproms. I bought 4 of the ones that traxion used in his article, test-programed them, now i can't erase them. I got the erasing in the article, put 4 of them in for 15 mins, didn't work, 30 mins, didn't work, and 45 mins and still didn't work... whats up?

Are they new chips, or pulls? It appears that some of them will take longer & longer & longer to erase every time they are done. w/the ones that we have @ work i just put it into the burner & spin the dial all the way to the right & walk away. I think that this is about an hour or maybe longer. The thing is though that i only burn them once or twice so no biggie for me. for the ones in the car 30 minutes has worked for me, although they dont have that many burns on them.

They were brand new chips. They were sitting out in my house for about a week though.

Not sure then, they may just want a longer period of time. try erasing one for an hour or so & see if it comes up blank.

OR, buy some of the 29C356 EEPROMS & be done with the UV prom altogether.

I thought the eeprom for my car would be the 29c256. If that's not the eeprom, what is? I plan on going to a local electronics store and picking some up. After i burn my eproms and uv eraser.... literally.
