OK, what's the secret??

I've swapped from a 6870 to a 7165, and I can't get any of the datalogging programs to connect. I've tried 3 different cables, all with the 10k resistor, but nothing connects! I can sometimes get winaldl to connect, but it only give me 5 or 6 pieces of info. Datamaster says it finds a GM160 pcm, but won't sync up. Does this mean that it finds a 160 baud datastream, or that it finds a 160 series pcm?? Tunerpro RT says it connects at 160, but gives really wierd, or no data, and won't connect at 8192.....so what's the secret to connecting???? this is driving me crazy!!!!

Nah, they are. Make sure you have a valid bin, are not running in limp-home mode, and that the data line is connected to pins E and M in your ALDL connector/cable.

AHHHH, so the data line has to go to BOTH E & M....I had to run new wires to my ALDL, and only ran a wire to M....does that make a difference??

What matters is that whatever pin your data is sent to from the ECM side of the ALDL connector needs to match up to the data line on your interface cable when you're hooked up to the PC side of the ALDL connector.
