165ecm and 29c256 Flash chip

Well since no one else has taken the initiative I will. I programmed the flash chip last night with a 6E bin and have not had the chance to put it in the car yet. I will probably test it tonight and then post the results.

I just received my programmer and 29C256 chips yesterday so I will be experimenting this weekend with it. I will also be converting to the 6E code.

I just asked this question in your other thread, I didn't notice this post are you programing the bin to both halves of the 29c256 or just one? Which side? Could you explain in detail how you do this, as I said in the other post I'm sick of my UV eraser and would love to use flash programing.
Thanks

I believe you have to use the upper half, but for simplicity just concatenate the bin twice into a 32K bin. This is what I plan to do with Karl (aka Hunter Motorsports) comes to my place on the Victoria Day long weekend and experiment with this.

There is absolutely NO REASON why this shouldn't work. If no one gets it to work before the Victoria Day weekend, I will tell you how to make it work.

Does the pocket programmer flash the Eprom? I'm tired of my UV erasor also.

Let us know your results. Did you solder a zif socket on the memcal?

I got a 29C256 loaded with the arap.bin. I plan testing it this weekend. I'll keep everyone posted on how it does.

Well I was finally able to test the 29C256 chip this weekend. So far, so good. I programmed two different chips. One with a doubled up bin, and the other with the bin loaded into the upper half of the chip. The doubled up chip did not work, I'll find out why later. The one loaded into the upper half is working fine. I used a modified ARAP.bin for the testing(no vats,egr,ZZ4).

Test car info: Not my car, it belongs to the son of one of the guys I work with.

all "free" mods.
