But please, let's not start any flame wars. FYI, I had originally locked it, but Bruce (aka Grumpy) said leave it. You can thank Bruce.

no it was never gonna be any more than what was said. i just asked a simple question, and he seemed to make me out like a begger. I didnt do anything wrong, i just thought that was rude on his part, i have my own chip, but im having problems, so asking if anyone lives were i do was burning some would help me out alot. It was never an act of begging for a chip. it was a question of help thats all

As I said, I have no problem with trying to "network" with someone to "work together". It is actually quite beneficial and I would have enjoyed being able to tag up with someone when I was just starting.
But, if you look at some of the other posts, (and really since this board has existed) people have been asking for people to burn eproms for them and expecting that it should be done for basically "a case of beer".
This board USE to be a PRIVATE Board devoted to ONLY those enthusiasts that were TRULY into PROM burning. You basically had to be introduced to be allowed to join.
There are MANY of those "first timers" that would like to return to those days. But a decision was made to "open" the board to the General Public to allow ANYONE to come in and join in the fun...BUT with the provisal that it be STRICTLY to share information. No commercial activities, no selling of BINs or asking for BINs; etc.
There are some very talented people here (Grumpy and Traxion) just to name a few that could EASILY sell their knowledge. But they graciously give their knowledge freely...just not their BINS or eproms. They will assist you in programming a better BIN and if you have difficulty in resoving somethign, they will help to the best of their ability.
There are also some very talented people that while they may not post on the board, they will send you an e-mail to help you out. I have gotten a few of those myself, both from members asking for specific help and "these talented people" sharing some infomrtion that I would NEVER be able to get from anywhere else.
But, I can also say that since this board has been opened up, there have been a lot of people looking for a "cheap" eprom; and that is just not tolerated.
While you may think Grumpy's response was rude, based on the past history of people seeking "cheapie" eproms, his question was valid. And lastly, unlike the other boards, we don't get into flame wars or act rudely to other members. Any post that looks like it is instigating a flame war is immediately locked, if not deleted.
With that all said, do you have a SPECIFIC question relating to PROM burning other than if someone is located in your area?

no not really, just wanted to see if i could hook up with someone and learn how. cuz i asked a question about my chip that noone could answer, so learning to burn my own would be a good alternative.
