IBM thinkpad 755cx p75, 8mb, 810mb, TFT, cost me $50, it's in great condition, nothing chipped or broken off, just a few scratchs on the outside. Now I'm sure most of you know I have the 8746 ecm with 160 baud aldl data stream. What would be the best software for the LEAST amount of money. Let's just say I'm going to have to save up for the software! I've heard that diacom isn't worth it, that there are better prices and better software. I've been looking around and just curious what you guys would get. No I can't use Craigs free software, doesn't work with my ecm.

BTW, I've been using Diacom+ for years now, and I like it. But, like all things YMMV
One thing to watch with the Thinkpads, is when the battery goes really dead, it won't boot even on a charger..

I'm making some minor progress with the 160-baud data stream. Basically coming to a crossroads as to whether or not to use CTS scanning or just pull bytes in quick & parse em on the single channel of the MAX232 (leaning to the latter). Either way. I'll be targeting parsing of the 8746 TBI systems first. May be kind of basic at first, but I might be able to get it up & running in the next few weeks (not that much to do really). Crunch-time at work till the 6th (maybe after I can steal some of BigOil's time back), and the wife has me packing for a move in July, but otherwise I could maybe squeeze some time in soon.
...Although, the freshly-balanced (+/-1gm)& honed (.031) 383 4-bolt parts in the garage are calling my name...can't let the crank & block sit in plastic bags too long! They're ready for a good washing, oiling, & torqueing.

This PROM burning stuff really intimidated me, but after reading Traxions' tech article
and joining the diy-efi list, it doesn't seem to be as comlicated as I had thought.
I'd like to meet some programmers here in Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA and learn first hand since I learn quickly while observing.

Dave
Still waiting for your 7747 ECU version, Craig.
Even though I realize the program will have to be totally re-written, which is beond me, unfortuantely. I can have dreams, can't I? I need something for that HotCam PROM tuning in a few weeks...
