ecm damaged? maybe can repair? 1227730
I posted this a few days ago in DFI & ECM with no response, maybe someone here can help.
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/dfi-...30-repair.html
picture is on this thread.
There is something fried on the bottom of this ecm. I have a good 1227749 I compaired it to and found it is a capacitor by looking at the schematics below.
The value is not listed.
Schematic: 1227749 Schematic
anyone have any idea?

No more than they run, I'd just get another one from either a pick-and-pull, eBay, here, or buy a reman unit from AZ, PB, etc.
I'd also wonder why that one fried.....

It might be repaired, but the dented case could have shorted out more than only that component. A picture of the good ECM might help. Take one picture of the other side of where that component is too. Did you try it in a car to see if it works or what? If it indeed is the decoupling capacitor you think it is, then it is not critical if it is missing.

Well I put the 730 ecm with the fried capacitor in my 90 cavalier and it fired right up , acted normal, no ses light or anything. So maybe I dont need that capacitor.
Anyways, its a surface mount cap with a blue dot on top. There are many others on the circuit board with the same marking, and One I could find it does not show the value. I guess i'll just run it without the capacitor and see if any problems arise.
