I own a 1986 IROC Camaro, and it has given me every engine code that i see listed on that page before, when none of the sensors were malfunctioning. How can i get a replacement ECU or whatever for my 1986 IROC Camaro, Vin F, 305 TPI?

I really doubt if i call a chevy dealership, if they will know what the hell im talking about. Is there a certain part number i need to know to get a replacement prom?

All the prom numbers are given on that URL. If you local gm parts department is that bad try autozombies, or a junk yard. Your oem ecm part no. was a 1227165. Thou it may differ if it has been replaced, updated ones carry new part nos.

 

Well, i called up chevy, and got them to order and send me a "1228291" calibration pack.

The guy said it was for all 1986 vin "F" camaros. the ECU i have in there now throws me all kinds of stupid codes, so im going to replace it with this part to see if it solves some problems.

total cost was like $60.68 if anyone else out there has a 1986 IROC Camaro vin "F".

sadly,none of these prom are avalible now from chevy.altho i also need to replace my prom for the very same reasons.should any members know of a alternative to a factory prom .please give me a shout

maf tpi chips are the easiest to find. any 86-89 5.0l maf chip will work in your 1227165 ecm. in 88 some have vats so you would need to bypass that and the 89 $6e and you can ditch that ninth injector. You can identify there year and programing bye the bcc broadcast code the letters on top of the eprom or on top of the memcal.

 

I have a prom it has abwt 8674 on it what does it go in trying to find the right one for my 86 irocz

 

abwt is a 1987 camaro/firebird gm part 16068672 L98 5.7L GAS 8 CYL MFI, GW6 AXLE, REAR, 3.27 RATIO, MD8 AUTO 4 SPD THM 700 R4, NA5 FEDERAL REQUIREMENT. I have several tpi memcals and can reprogram if needed. Pm me if you think I might be able to help you.

did you check he netres for the date code for recall ? the eprom can be reprogramed with a new .bin broadcast code.

 

No I didn't I was just trying 2 make sure it has the right one in it it does have a new ECM in it were can I find that info at and thx for all your help
