But, you might as well plan on making a real event of it, and go with a later ecm.
It's just a matter of time till you can't get a MAF for it, and around here I haven't seen a 6870 in years.
Then will a 165 might seem like a good idea it only buys some time. Might as well study up on a 1227730, MAP like they used in the 90-92s.

Corky,
One of the biggest reasons to convert your setup is because the '85 system is incredibly old and outdated. This was the first year for the TPI. GM changed the computer and calibration beginning the very next year. Simply put, the '85 computer system is the absolute worst when comparing the different TPI systems that GM released. Furthermore, since it was only in production for one year ... there is no that many of them and, therefore, not much available to tune them. I believe that TunerCat has a Definition file for this setup (TDF) but I haven't as of yet seen an ECU for WinBin.
If you are happy with your current setup then keep the '85 computer. However, if you are serious about tuning then your best bet is to convert to a newer computer. Although you could convert to the later MAF setup ... that would be a bad choice because since you ALREADY are converting you might as well convert to the better setup (from a tuning perspective); that setup is the Speed Density 730 ECM.
Another option is to learn how to create ECU files and then create your own ECU file for the '85 TPI. However, information on that program is rather scarce compared to the other programs.

Gunning for NA 11's with bigger cam, bigger stall, and bigger exhaust.

As one who owns an 85 Vette and searched all over for the 85 ecu, I finally gave up and ordered TunerCat. One week later, I decided to update to speed density (90-92 F body, 90-91 Vette). It WAS the the smartest thing I have ever done on my car.
The MAF is more forgiving, eh? Well, to tune what the MAF compensates for in a MAP system, all you gotta do is take 2 numbers, divide em, and multiply that by another number (search P730 for reference). Believe me, it IS worth it.
Especially for the 85-If your burnoff module ever goes, it is a $900 (yes) part from GM. The MAP sensor costs what, 10 cheeseburgers? For all the Vette specific quirks on the repinning, go to http://www.corvetteforum.cc/ubb/Forum7/HTML/006299.html This, along with the Mike Davis page referenced in Traxion's Prom Burning Intro will have EVERYTHING needed to do the smartest thing you can do for the Vette. -Matt-
