ALDL connector
ALDL connector
Do you any of you know a good place to get a ALDL connector. I was planning on making my own cable for the lap top and only thing I can't find so far is the ALDL connector. If you know where to get one please supply a part number if at all possible. Thanks.

Check out the Auto Xray 20110 cable. It'll set you back $20-30 but it's what you're looking for.
See it at OnTool http://www.ontool.com/store/product/5045 for $24.95 or Summit for $27.99 (search for Summit part AXY-20110).

Does this cable just have the proper end to plug into the ALDL port and not the connection for the laptop? I need a cable that will work with Craigs software(for getting started), that's why I am asking.

Yes, the auto x-ray cable won't work on a PC; if you want a complete cable to work with Craig's software, you can buy one pre-made from AKM Cables
Just specify what you're going to be using it with and he'll hook you up with the right cable.

No, some use the parallel port, others use serial (com ports). Most of the newer software uses the serial cables. The only ones that use parallel port as the interface are: Diacom, Ease (like diacom), and turbolink.

Is there a place where I can buy just the ALDL plastic connector. I have searched the web quite a bit and still can't find them. I have been using ground down electrical spades. It would be nice to put a plug on the end of my hacked/homebuilt thing. Or I could put in a DB9 on the car too. Nah, the ALDL 12 pin is better.
Thanks,
J

When using Diacom, what pins on the ALDL connector need to connect to the cable? Is it the E and Ground pins? Or does it need more?
