need the first step

OK after a fair ammont of reading I have come to the conclusion I am trying to jump in with both feet instead of starting small

I have read several time the best way is start with your stock bin and go from there
I agree but I have a small problem

I have an injecton system from a 88 305 i got from the wrecker I will be putting it in at the end of the month to my modified 86 IROC 4bbl

I have a 350 with a manual 5 spd the cam isnt too wild, I am using the stock injectors from the 305

I need a bin file to start with so when i spend a weekend putting this thing in i am not stuck with a dead car

can any one email me or point me to a good one to start with

Thanks

if any one else has done this swap can you email me I have a few questions you may be able to help me with(wiring) or ICQ#13327440

First, there is no stock 350 5-speed bin, so it is going to be custom and the chances of it being the same as your setup (especially with 305 injectors) is little or nil.

That is why most guys just make their own; generally from a 305 5-speed and then modify it accordingly.

But, it would also help if you gave more information about your car, like year and specs. If it is MAF, you can usually start fairly well with the stock 305 and they modify it.

With SD, its a little more difficult as SD has to know the displacement. Most guys start with the 305 5-speed Bin and then modify it to some of the parameters in the 350 bin...kind of merging both.

And using a Vette 350 6-speed bin won't work either without modification as the Vette Bin has an Oil Temperature sensor and it will trigger the SES light on an F-body without modification.

So, no matter what you want to do, you are going to have to modify it.

I have a 1986 IROC-Z the system going in is a stock 88 MAF system off of a 305

I do have the stock 305 bin but I am not sure what the injector constants need to be set to I just dont want to hurt the engine before I get a chance to tune it

and I am not against any mods that need to be done like the oil temp ETC since this is a complete swap

even if I just get a few pointers on what to start with I will be happy especially how to make those injectors work(for now)

If the cam isn't too wild, use the prom that came with the system if it's manual or get a manual one if not. You have MAF and it will be more forgiving and the injectors you are using are the same as in the prom. Once the car is running, start collecting data and then make your changes to the prom.

Well, you could always make a trip to Kamloops, it's not that far from Victoria. You'd definitely get a "hands on" lesson on Prom Burning and a good head start.

No problem. Let's talk about it as it gets around that time, as I do have to go out of town a lot. But I am generally home most weekends.

I am always willing to help someone if they come out this way. We might even be able to get "Highway Mode" invoked for you so you can save some gas.

I easily get 650 Kms to a tank on Highway driving. Best was just over 700 kms and there still was a couple of liters left over.

Too bad you aren't going SD as I actually find it easier to tune. More time consuming, but easier.

but sd is just a calutaion of how much air

i would think there would be way less error measuring the real air intake instead of approximating from a table of values
