New to prom programming (Questions???)

I have been doing research on prom programming for a weeks now now. I have read the last couple of months postings and I am confused a little on what is the best setup to go with to Program PROMs. I would like to do it right the first time.

PLAN--
I have the Diacom scan tool package.
Get Pocket Programmer.
Get the TunerCat editor.
My Car is 88 350 GTA, so I expect I need the $32B definition.

Does this sound like the proper setup so far?

What PROM's can I use and where the best source?
27C128 or the AT28C256 or what?

From the posting it sounded like poeple where having problems with the flash proms, but the flash sounds like the best way to go when it works right.

I have a Hypertech cip now, so I thought I could still use it by just pulling the PROM off and replacing it with my PROM.

Please let me now if I am wrong!!!

Thank in advance for any help.

looks like your off to a good start. You might want to pickup a nice binder to keep your notes and the data you collect, trust me, you will never remember what you changed if you don't keep notes!

AT29C256 works good, it's just a little different process then the non flash proms. They are well worth the money.

If the hypertech piggyback is like the JETT piggyback then it will work great. People are now attaching ZIFs to the piggyback to make them even easy to use. I did have to alter my ECM case to work with the JETT piggy.

Change the $32 to $6E and you are ready to go. The $6E is the best/latest code.
