Super Ram/ LPE 219 cam

I'm working on a friends' car. It's an 89 Iroc with a 355, Super Ram, AFR 190's and an LPE 219/219 cam, stock 700-R4. It idles when it's cold and in park, but when you drop it in to drive, it stalls unless you keep the r's at about 2000. Instead of having lose money getting a custom chip burnt, I told him to buy the pocket programmer. Problem is we need to move the car out of the driveway due to certain, and understandable, mother issues. It seems that she does not like her new driveway ornament. Can anybody transfer a prom that will enable this car to idle correctly so that we can move it safely.

Why not drive with two feet AT 2000 rpm ? One on the gas and one on the brakes !

Well, it would be neither safe nor driveable. Why don't they drive top fuel dragsters on the street?

This is the exact same combo that I'm building... AFR 190, superram, LPE 219/219 cam. I'm very interested in the outcome of this combo

Yes, well I will let you guys know when it gets moved out of my friendd's driveway. In the meantime, however, I'm looking for a way to make the thing idle decently. Leirch, did you have any erratic idle problems?

TPIGUY,
Yep. I had all kinds of idle problems.. But most of my problems were shortblock problems. I switched over to speed density and that seemed to help out a lot. If you were a little closer I'd bring diacom over and help you diagnose the problems. I'd say if you HAVE to get it out of the way, just baby it gas/brake until you get it where it needs to go. I know, its not safe but sometimes you don't have a choice..

My '87 IROCZ will run OK with the stock GM chip.

I think that you should check all of your work, and look for vacuum leaks.

Another thing is that the 219/219 cam probably likes more rpm at idle to run more smoothly. Do an idle air adjustment, have the idle speed set to 900 to 1000rpm. Also, you might want to increase your static timing.

When you learn how to program a chip, start off with the ARAP chip.

Definatly more timing at idle. Mine is around 20-24d at idle. Seems to like it right there.
