Alittle of topic but no tach board right now.....Will an aftermarket chip for an 89 350 Work on a 88 350? I don't think they changed anything major from 88 to 89 (Just Duel Cats) So it should work right??? Thanks

You need to physically disable the Cold Start Injector, but the 89 code works in 86-88s. Many guys with MAF 165s burn the 89 ARAP BIN onto their eproms on 86-88s.

[b] The cold start injector doesn't work through the ECM. It has its own independent circuit. If it is enabled and your car starts well, that's fine. But, the '89 code and a cold start injector are both richening the engine on cold starts.
It can be unplugged, or removed and the hole plugged. It wouldn't matter.
Also, be sure the '89 code has VATS removed unless you have the hardware for it in your car. An '88 Vet Hypertech chip came either way. I bought a used one a long time ago and couldn't use it until I got a VATS module off Ebay.

Why do you have to disable the cold start if the 89 code has no referance to it? I'm running the arap, modified in my GTA with the cold start hooked up. Don't have any problems, it cranks on the 2nd turn of the engine. When cold or hot.

The chip is from a GTA so it has VATS. So my options are
Get a VATS module
Remove it from the chip
What exactly is required when you get a VATS Module? Or How do you remove it from the chip?
Just to make sure the VATS is the little chip thing on the ignition key, right?
