Help with project for school?
Kind of a weird request, but I figure that you guys are the best people to ask on the subject.
I'm a computer science major, and for one of my classes I need to create a 20 minute presentation on anything related to my field. Since I'm spending a bunch of time learning about DIY PROM, I might as well justify all this time spent by getting a grade for it
I know that everything is written in Assembly, and I can do 99% of the leg work myself, but does anyone have any good links to info on the ECM's hardware and other inner-workings?
I was planning on giving a brief intro as to the stock hardware/firmware, examples from the stock binary files, and then go into all the parameters and wantnot that can/need to be modified in order for a tuner to make the most of their modifications, and why this is so.
Any other suggestions?

Sounds like a great project idea. Can I see a copy of it when you're done? Would you like some proof reading and editing help/input? I'd be willing, and there's a chance we both might learn something from it.....

Definitely...It's due the 9th of Feb, so I need to get cracking on it soon. I'll post it up when I start making progress on it this week.

IMO, A good presentation would be the evolution of car ECUs from the first to the latest, and then a look to the future. That'd get your classmates interested. But that'd take a bit more research for just a presentation. Show'em that the future requires good engineers, and that it's an interesting field.

Re: Help with project for school?
Whoa, I completely forgot about this post....sorry about that.
Anyways, I presented this about a month or so back, and I just wanted to say thanks to people that gave me suggestions, since I received an A on it.
My style of presentation is to just write up the "talking points" and actually explain everything verbally, (since it makes for a cleaner presentation) so like I just mentioned, the slides don't really have a ton of info on them.
Oh, and don't tear me apart if there is an inaccuracy or two..I'm no expert
Here's the link if anyone is interested:

again for the help! This board is awesome, and I can't wait to start tuning my car (I finally picked up an AutoProm last month).
