I just need HELP with this!
I need to data log my car, but I'm doing something wrong.
I have:
-TunerPro RT
-USB ALDL cable from aldlcables.com
-a decent "proficiency" in bin, hex, and BASIC programming (of Java...)
-a laptop
-an available and specified COM port
-driver for cable (installed and reinstalled numerous times)
-an .ads file (for an L05, if anyone has one for an L03 that would be grand
)
-an error message that says "error creating log file," which I'm sure is because I need a correct .adl file, but how do I go about getting/making one?
I had tried with WinALDL first, but couldn't get that to work at all, which makes me think there might be some other problem with what I'm doing other than not having an .adl file for TunerPro. Any help you can provide will be GREATLY appreciated.

I believe that you have to set the file name before you start to do your logging. IIRC this is the error I get when I was trying to figure that out too. Click on file name or something along those lines.

Yeah you do but you need an adl file first. How do I create/acquire one? I am thinking that my ALDL cable may be bad since I had no luck with WinALDL either.

I already called the company and they said I could return it pretty much no questions asked, but I'd like to avoid the hassle if I can. What exactly should I check? I've gone over several times that the proper driver is installed, the connector is pushed all the way in, etc etc, all the basic stuff.

EDIT: WINALDL
I'm sorry to bring this back from the dead, but it was unanswered!
I'm running an older ECU in my Caprice (16136965), and LONG STORY SHORT got it running and datalogging real time data, however when I look in my logs it's only showing raw data. Is this ecu just junk? I used someone elses recommendation to run in WinAldl 16144288 at 4800 Baud and like said above can get real time data on the screen, but when it comes to logging, all I receive is 0's and obsurd numbers like 96 in mph when i'm trying to do constant 35 mph data logs.
There is limited to no information on this ECU, and i'm not going to waste time hacking it right now.
I'd be so appreciative, i'm just getting into this after 3-4 years research first hands on experience and i'm going to convert this ECU to a 7427 to match my truck anyways, but I have the bug! Haha.
+ I'm sorry if I jacked the thread!
Take Care,

Tahoe
16136965 is ECM that was used in 1990-1993 B-Bodies. I have couple of them sitting on my work bench. I have been searching high and low for program definitions (XDF, ECU files, etc) with very little luck. Instead of converting to 7747 (I think that's what you said in your post) get on 8746 out of F body which is almost pin for pin compatible. 7747 does not have IAT and several other controls.

Both an .xdf (for binary editing) and .ads file (for real time scanning/logging) that work with TunerPro RT for the 16136965 Caprice ECM are available from the download location at moates.net .
