Memorial POW-Wow for Bruce

Guys,

I've been thinking about this since I heard the news about Bruce. I thought it would be appropriate to have a POW-Wow over in Greenville as a way of honoring what Bruce has done for the tuning community. Which of you would be interested in getting together and when? Thoughts?

So far as of 5.19.2007:

Saturn5
Rbob
Jeremy July dates
Scott Pearson
Z69 ?

I'd be interested and could share some of the stuff we have done with code59.

I'd be interested in attending and could pass the info along to some of the old gm_ecm crowd. Holiday Inn Express, as usual? Tell Shannen to keep the boost down on the bypass...

I'll contact some people with a link to this thread. I'm not a forum regular, so if any major updates, drop me an email. I was thinking of having a powwow out here later this summer but may wait on that depending on the date chosen for this one.

I'd go to either. Your place would be a good one, with the shop and all.

Would give me the kick in the butt necessary to finish the flowbench and bring it...

Let me know where/when.

Dominic, I'd very much like to be apart of this Pow Wow, but my darn work schedule won't allow for it. Could you possibly video this get together, and maybe host it on this website, for all to see, in memory of Bruce....?

Re: Memorial POW-Wow for Bruce

I wont be able to make anything, unless its in the first 3 weeks of July.

I'm in Houston at the school of automotive machinists, so I'm no where near Chicago (unfortunately)

If it happened then, you would consider me in, otherwise I'm here thru Nov.

later

I've always wanted to go. But it will depend on when and where.
I'm switching jobs so I won't have any vacation until December.

Re: Memorial POW-Wow for Bruce

July 7-8 or 14-15th would work for me.

I'll be coming home the weekend of the 1 and coming back on the 21.

I would like to attend if it is at all possible.

I'll be there either place you want to have it. You guys make the call, if you want it here I'll make arrangements.

For those who weren't at the last Iowa Pow-Wow, location is on a two-lane paved country road with minimal law enforcement. I think Bruce left half of his tires behind that trip...

I'm going to edit my initial post and start list of those that have said they'd come. What we need is a calendar or poll for the dates.

I would like to make it out but it very much depends on when, and of course the spousal rubber stamp.

Re: Memorial POW-Wow for Bruce

Man, I'd really like to make this event. I'm "only" 800 miles away in Dallas, TX. But it sounds like this would be the premier event to pay our respects to a DIY Great, as well as get some excellent hands on experience from some of the masters! I may just have to schedule some vac time and do this anyway. Is the tuning part of the Pow-Wow going to last all day Saturday and maybe half a day or so Sunday? I'd want to make sure there was enough time to actually get this baby tuned in better......

What a chance this could be!

Re: Memorial POW-Wow for Bruce

July works, but not week around 4th.
August works.
Later than that is a no-go.

Greenville is nice but I'd love to see Scott's place. I guess that'd be a *few* more hours of driving for me.

Guys,

I'm going to make the call. Haven't heard from anyone else so what do you guys say we shoot for the weekend of July 14th. I will try to get there on the afternoon of the 13th. Wish I could have gone to the funeral.
OK. What say the rest of you? Are we on for Bruce?!

Me too. I just think there would be so much more stuff to do, vs. the Holiday Inn. I'm generally more comfortable in a shop.

9 hrs vs. 15+, too, but that's no big deal to me.

I'm in either way. July 14th is as good of a weekend as any. You're always gonna find somebody who's got a conflict on any given weekend.

Later,

Re: Memorial POW-Wow for Bruce

I would enjoy coming out to Iowa sometime. I'm going to Waterloo next Tuesday in fact. As far as a PowWow in Greenville, I think that its appropriate since that's where Bruce lived. Its also more centrally located for anyone coming from the east like RBob. So I think we should leave it at that for this time. If its possible, I wouldn't mind driving up to Dayton and visiting Bruce's gravesite while there. I think I'll start a new thread just to see who signs up for the July14th date in Greenville.
