What am I doing wrong??
What am I doing wrong??
Alright well the EBL is installed and working. But I can not for the life of me get VE learn to work. I disabled CCP and EGR. Also Turned Highway mode off, and turned closed loop to a high temp. I have my LC1 into channel 4 and it reads it just fine. Also set VE learn to use my WB and have the temp range for VE learn within spec. Also the BLM shows 128 and INT shows 128. Why will this thing not learn?? When driving it will come up with a little message at the bottom of the ve table saying BLM not 128 or something of that matter.
Also have a malfunction for map lo. How do I go about fixing that??
Thanks!!

Re: What am I doing wrong??
With the BLM not at 128 message, there are 2 items that could be happening. For WB Learn the BLMs need to be at 128, otherwise the fueling is being adjusted.
Check this entry: 'BLM - Max/Min BLM at Key-on (init)' it should be set to 128/128. This resets the BLMs at key-on. The BLMs may be holding previous values.
The other may be that it is going into closed loop learn mode. Can switch to the main WUD display to check for this. The indicator lights at the top, there is 'ClsdLp' and 'Learn.'
A MAP low can be caused by disconnecting the 3-wire connector while the engine is running. Does the key-on, engine-off MAP KPa match your elevation?

Re: What am I doing wrong??
The key on INT is set at 128/128. Also max and min are set at 128.
The closed loop operation is set well above operating temp and the light is not on. The only ones on while driving at a steady speed are MAL and running.
Can the map lo code cause it not to read??
Also I show about 97kpa with engine off and around 45 at idle.

Re: What am I doing wrong??
Alright well I found something interesting. When I when to the Analysis it only shows 11 kpa across the board. Nothing more and nothing less. But the WUD diplay shows the KPA changing..

Re: What am I doing wrong??
Will need to fix this before doing any tuning. Otherwise the tune will not be correct. On the MAP sensor the terminals are marked A, B, C. With the key-on, engine-off, the harness connector for the MAP: pin A goes to ground, pin C goes to the ECM for +5V. These can be checked with a volt meter.
Pin B goes back to the ECM as the signal, to pin C11 on the ECM. When connected to the MAP sensor it will be close to 5 volts at high pressure (engine not running), and a lower voltage with the engine running. Can check this at the ECM with the connector plugged into the MAP.

Re: What am I doing wrong??
You were right on the map sensor. Turns out the 7427 uses a seperate 5v+ to the map were the the 7727 would have them together. I simply added a wire to the harness and spliced it to the reference and all is good now for that code.
But I still have an issue, It still says BLM not at 128. As you can see it sure says it is. besides locking the min/max at 128 on int key turn on I also did BLM min/max at 128 and INT min and max at 128 just to try it. Still nothing will work.
I will throw up a new screen shot to show you.
Thanks!!

Can you email me a data log? If you can send it to bobr@dynamicefi.com, it will be easier being able to look at a log file.

Re: What am I doing wrong??
I got it to do some logging today, but I had to turn the INT max and min to the normal settings and min max BLM to 128 along with blm int key on at 128. From there I made it go into closed loop and it would learn, but only in BLM mode not WB. I will make a data log of it in WB mode and let you know.
Thanks for the help!!

Re: What am I doing wrong??
Alright well the BLM at key on is set min and max 128. The BLM min and max are set at 108 150 and INT min max at 40 172. Or somewere around there anyways. Does it make any sense that while in BLM mode it will learn in closed loop and not open. Once I go to to open loop the green light turns off. Then lets say I am learning in wideband mode in closed loop, the green light will be on but nothing will change, then while still in wb mode I go into open loop. The light shuts off for learn and does not change anything, even though I am running around 13 to 1 right now. BLM mode will work in closed loop though. I have a data log showing it all but I am not home tonight and only have dial up access. Will take to long.
Thanks!
Also I plan to run a 1990 pontiac 6000 2.5l TBI manifold temp sensor. Can I use the CTS to MTS ratings all at 0% for fueling?? or maybe like 10% I know fast does it with his maf 7427. Will the code work for that?? I think it would be far more accurate.
Thanks!

Re: What am I doing wrong??
VE Learns based on the BLM will only learn when the ECM is in learn mode. So when the ECM goes open loop the VE Learn will not collect that data. The reason for this is that the BLM will be locked at whatever value it has. Which may or not be correct while in open loop.
I ran a closed loop log through with the BLM learn enabled. No issues, works the way it should. I was looking for an open loop log file with some WB input but can't find one. I'll log one later and try the VE Learn in WB mode.
MTS/MAT, the code will work on MAT only for the IAT/CTS blend.

Re: What am I doing wrong??
chevyz71man, the WUD WB VE Learn routine needed some work. I've emailed you a new version of the WUD. Small file, about 150K zipped.
Let me know if it does the trick.

It never ends!!
Well I put the 2.0a on and all problems were gone. Installed at IAT and a 0-100 psi autometer fuel pressure transducer and everything was going perfect. Then about 400-500 miles later, first time I ever went with out the lap top it starts acting up. Wont idle without me giving it throttle and runs like a pos. So I limped it back to work, and grabbed the lap top. I turned on the whats up display and turned the ignition on. Everything seemed normal, so I fired it up and all looked right and was idleing fine, then the whats up display just like froze, or well looked like it. At that exact same time it started running like crap again and died. Turned the truck off and back on and no sensors showed anything, and would not start without being on the throttle. So I let it sit for a minute, turned the ignition on and everything showed up on the screen again. Fired up and then repeated. So I pulled the computer out and pulled it apart. checked all solder joints and they look good as ever. So since I also had to make an adapter harness I started ohming it out. Everything checked out and no shorts or crossed wires. So my thought was well maybe something is messed up in the trucks wiring. So I plug the ol 7427 in and take the adapter out. Fires right up and I drove home without a quirk. I have looked through the harness many times now with nothing showing up. Any ideas guys?? Think the donor computer I used for the EBL went bad?? Also I have never thrown a MAL code in this time.
i will say that I have my BLMs pretty much within 127 and 129 now and it runs better then ever. Other then I need more fuel for this thing. A lot of cubes and cam. Can not run much above 4200rpms

Re: It never ends!!
The items I would check are the grounds to both PCM & ECM, the +12 lines (battery & ignition), and check that the 5 volt references aren't tied together between them. If the issue persists it will be taken care of.

Re: What am I doing wrong??
Well I did check those, they seem good. But I will check again. I also picked up another 7747 ECM to try that. The 5 volt reference is not tied together in any way. The 7427 does not even have wires coming from that spot. The IAC motor does not work when it does this and show no tps, map or knk. I plugged the 7747 in, in place of the EBL and it idled fine when the problem was acting up. I am going to double check the ground and 12v ign and constant. If thats all good I guess I will put my 10 dollar 7747 to use. How much load can the 7747 ECM 5 volt reference take?? I have the map, tps and autometer 0-100 psi transducer on it.
Thanks for all the help Rbob, I love the ebl so far. Most said a 383 with a 230 at .50 cam and 480" lift cam would not tune. But it is getting close. I just need more fuel!!! And a new base plate the holley one is junk, needs new shaft bushings. Also is it normal to see the fuel pressure bounce like 2-3psi while runing?? I set it to 22psi but it jumps from around 21 to 24 according to the sending unit. The manual gauge bounces very fast also.
