Unusual Siduation

I have an 86 Iroc-Z, The original owner swaped the 305 TPI VIN F to a 1974 350 CMJ engine. The engine has been camed although I have no clue what size it is. It still had the stock chip in it and it was not running right. ( go fiqure) The engine would stall out when idling in drive. I bought a jet performance chip for a 1987 Iroc-Z with the 350 from a friend for $50 because his 87 Iroc was wrecked. This is only a quick fix to keep it from stalling. I will be burning a custom chip this winter. Do I need to know the size of the cam I have to burn my own chip?

no, it would help to give you a starting point, but you don't have to know. just let the engine and sensors tell you what it likes.

I Have not been able to find my knock sensor either. When I hook up the master tech scantool it says it has no signal from the knock sensor. Is this bad that the scantool says knock sensor- no signal?

Re: Unusual Siduation

It is always nice to have a knock sensor, It should be in the same spot as the tbi engine. Down on the side of the block where the coolant drain would be. On one side or the other.

Re: Unusual Siduation

The most usual spot is on the passenger side above the starter. Sometimes it is hard to see (or feel) unless you know exactly where to check it out.
