Pocket Programmer Problem, Please help

I obtained a PP2 from a member on this board along with the purchase of his car. He gave the the PP2, a install CD (Not Original) and the Plug adapter. I installed the software, and it works, but it says it cannot find the PP2. I can not put a chip into it and get the info out of it I am VERY new to this, and I have been reading alot about the DIY Prom and I am ready to jump into it, but I cant figure out how to use it! I have it pluged into my printer port, but the comp never said "found new hardware" And if I go to my LPT 1, 2, 3 ports, nothing is installed. My lexmark printer is hooked up with a USB cable, My comp is a Dell XP Home. I cannot check the VPP voltage, it will not highlight. I dont know if there is supposed to be a driver CD with the PP2 unit, but I dont have it if there is supposed to be one, and there are no drivers listed on the CD he gave me. What do I do??

Re: Pocket Programmer Problem, Please help

First check the power supply voltage using a volt meter. Unplug it at the module and test. I have had the internal connections break after little use and it reports that the PP2 is not found. If the voltage is OK then check the PC BIOS settings that the parallel port is enabled and what address it is at.

Good to hear you have it working. Look at what LPT address it reports when it connects and make sure you enable that address in the BIOS of the PC that it didn't work with.
