Help with willem eprom programmer

I have the dual powered willem eprom programmer+27C256 with AT29C256 chips to burn with it. I can load up my bin and that is about as far as I can get. I am not sure if I have my dip switches set incorrectly or what. Every time I try to burn a chip it fails to finish. Can someone help me through this step by step?

Just to make sure:

The software finds the hardware, correct?

Can you read a chip without issue?

Yes and yes, the chip is being read and verified.

Then it sounds to me that you have the switches and/or the jumpers set wrong. The jumpers are just to the upper right of the ZIF socket if you place the the board so that the switches are towards you, and the handle of the ZIF is away from you.

Re: Help with willem eprom programmer

On my willem, when I set the type eprom I'm using, a picture of how the dip switches should be set comes up.
I just set the switches as pictured, and it's good to go.

Re: Help with willem eprom programmer

On the programmer board there are also 6 yellow jumpers. They slide onto pins that are sticking up. One to the left of the switch board, and 3 to the right of the ZIF. make sure that those match the pictures as well. I am using the willem programmer on AT29C256 chips and it works fine for me when I follow the picture. The "connector" to the left of the switch board is on the top two pins, leave the third one there by itself. I also found that to erase the AT29C256 chips you can go to the Icon that reads 'Clear Buffer', it will clear the buffer, then you can hit the 'Program Chip' button to "program" a blank set of data into your card - it will be blank and cleared at that point. You can do a blank check to verify it. Let me know if you got any other questions I've gotten to know the programmer pretty well in the last two weeks. goodluck

Re: Help with willem eprom programmer

I had a similar experience.
One day, I say the switch setting when I booted it up, and I was off 2 switches.
I changed them and it worked!

Re: Help with willem eprom programmer

If you are doing the AT29c256 erasable, you might want to go to moates.net and get a Burn1.
They are great.
