LC-1 permanent install??

Hey just wondering if anyone is running a LC-1 from innovate permanantly in there vehicle?? Directions say that everything should be fine but I wanted some feed back as to where the best place to leave the unit mounted in the frame or engine compartment and how it would be affected by weather and moister?? I just got an LC-1 plus there A/F gauge kit and will be putting it in the dash permanantly and just want to make sure that there will be no problems with it in the long run. THanks for any advice/Help!!

Re: LC-1 permanent install??

I had it wired by a pro a friend of mine so i cannot give details. Key on LM1 on- fuel pump turns off LM1 off- crank engine LM1 is off- engine starts LM1 is on. In 20 secs or so the WB02 is fully heated and showing A.F.

Now i was not successful geting WDB02 to last for entire season of 7 months. in three years I think 4 ruined sensors. I believe excessive heat did kill it. It was at 3 oclock just in back of collector in ext pipe. Innovate said to move it back would help and I did. Now about 20 inches further back or about 12 inches in front of rear axle(Vette).

Permanent install.

Re: LC-1 permanent install??

Mines a perm install. My WB02 sensor is about 3 inches from my longtube collector and I've put about 10 hours idling / tuning in neutral and about 1 hour driving. No issues yet. I have the wires coming up through the shifter area and then going behind/under/etc the necessary panels to reach the ecm where its hard wired in. All logging / tuning is done via Tunerpro RT. I don't use innovatives software at all. If you do use TunerproRT as your "tool of choice" then my is to also contribute your 30 bux registration so we can continue to get the fine support of this fine product.

Both of my LC-1's (one in each bank) are permanent installs and no problems.

Mine is permanently installed in the factory location. The brain is doublesided taped to the side of my ABS control unit.

well, I don't really see any other reason to put a WB on each bank, other than knowing which side is screwing up...you can't really tune one side of the engine

is there? I don't know crap about port fuel, so maybe there is a way

Re: LC-1 permanent install??

Hey Guys,
I have had a LC-1 on a VW 1.8t racecar for 2 seasons with no troubles except the turbo overheating the sensor before I moved it further back in the exhaust. As for my truck, that is another story. I installed a brand new LC-1, calibrated the sensor, (got datalogging to work) and then proceeded to start the engine. My batt voltage dropped to 9 volts during cranking, and then no comm with controller. That was it, dead in the water. Innovate warrantied it no problem. I think that my problem was that I mounted the controller 6 to 8 inches away for my spark plug wires.
I know there is a leaky plug wire somewere (can hear it on radio on rainy days). My thinking is that the spark somehow coupled with the controller inductively and fried it. Does anyone think this is possible? I haven't installed the new one yet though, finally I have lots of fab work in the race shop $$$$$ after a slow summer.

Re: LC-1 permanent install??

hell yah it's possible, considering the voltage travels around the spark plug wire. just like high voltage power lines feeding neighborhoods

Nothing wrong with trying to gather as much information as possible. I almost put a WB on each side. There is a NB on each side, of which I can select which one to feed to the ECM.

Vern has a thread on the alternate intake board about his fun with a Super Ram. It is a good read.

Re: LC-1 permanent install??

Just wondering what you guys did with the wiring?? I will have to extend some of the wires do to where i have to mount the gauge etc. Did you use the same gauge wire?? Also wondering if you had any problems with interferance from the grounds?? Depending on where you mounted it?? Thanks again guy I plan on doing the install this weekend

Re: LC-1 permanent install??

My buddy did the wiring. he is a wiring genius. The LM1 is in counsel box between seats. cable to sensor exits rear of box into storage compartment behind seat, through the side of it and right to the sensor directly under about 18 inch behind collector. Excess coils up in storage box neatly. power lead runs forward to dash and then to relay and i think to fuse panel. good ground is critical. with that lead another follows to coil for RPM through firewall and same for TPS-MAP. ECU in stock location and the "connector box" for others is under pass dash with ECU. I have the digital A/F in pod at drivers L pillar, into dash, and back to counsel with input to LM1.

no issues all works well cept i need to recalibrate the RPM as it is not accurrate.
