1.8ms Injector pw, still rich at idle?
I am locked in OL trying to factor out as many variables as possible. I have 30# ford injectors with the constant set to 32 in my bin. (I'm running 43psi) The VE tables in my Idle range are ~35, at idle my SA is ~28 degrees. The problem is the car is still running rich at idle. It is running so rich that I suspect this is also why my IAC steps are maxing out. (231 with the SAUJP bin)
When comparing the VE table to the SAUJP bin, I have made large adjustments but still it is stinky rich and sooting the plugs. I understand that my engine is now less efficient with the cam heads and intake. I just didn't think that I would have to adjust the VE tables this much in order to clean up the Idle. What other tables should I adjust to try and lean this up some?
I want to wait until I get my WB02 to start working on the rest to the VE table.(should be in this week) I thought I could get started without it since the overlap of the cam is going to lie to the WB anyways.
Also, I am idling in the 65 -75 KPA region. Im thinking this will improve once I get it idling leaner.
Thanks in advance, Chris

I'd suggest making sure it's not something else that's letting fuel into the intake, such as a leaking fuel pressure regulator.
Also, make sure the vacuum line to the regulator is connected.
Also, measure your fuel pressure, to make sure the regulator vacuum reference works right. Pressure should drop several psi when vacuum is applied (but you don't have much vacuum, probably from being rich or otherwise fouling/misfiring).
1.8ms on 30's should not be severely rich at an idle condition, I think...

Come to think of it, I had a slight leak at the AFPR (Holley junk unit) although nothing extreme just a slight drip occasionally. Im using a clear line as to see how much is leaking.
Whats the lowest you have seen in the ve table for the idle region?

It's much easier to lean idle out until idle quality suffers. Then richen it up a hair. Even with a wideband, that is how I set idle AFR. This is all provided timing does not fluctuate through the scan tool....
Re: 1.8ms Injector pw, still rich at idle?
I've got about 1.8 ms at idle (in neutral), with 24 lb injectors on a Miniramed 350 with a cam that has 212° duration @.050. Manifold vacuum is around 15 inHg at that operating condition. BLM's are 128 too. When I put it in drive, the pulse width jumps to about 2.6 ms.

Re: 1.8ms Injector pw, still rich at idle?
On a side note (maybe I should post a new tread)
I have been searching on this and couldn't come up with a clear answer, except that an overly rich condition could drive my IAC up.
The IAC maxes out when I'm in drive. I changed the max step count around some and it would max out to the specified figure I entered in the constant. I reset the IAC, set the Idle manually to ~900 in drive. Although the idle is very rough and varies about 200 RPM. I plug in the IAC restart and the IAC steps go from ~40 in park to whatever my max IAC constant is at. (currently 160 BTW) With little to no change in the idle quality. I do hear it open up very distinctly when put in drive. Again, no change in idle quality. I have the throttle cranked up so much that the TPS voltage is .75v. (non adjustable type) With the throttle screw backed out (~.60v) The IAC will extend to max position in both park and drive. The kicker is that when started the Engine flares up to 2100 RPM until IAC brings it down, then it levels off to ~40 until I place it in drive again. Also I can feel/see it holding the motor at a high idle when decelerating to a stop.
I have a Holley 58mm throttle body with a new IAC motor. So that shouldn't be an issue I wouldn't think. Unless Holley messed up there throttle bodies like their FPR's
Sorry for the long post. This thing has me super frustrated. I just wanted to get this thing idling solidly so I can test out my new WB02.

Re: 1.8ms Injector pw, still rich at idle?
Actually, I have fixed it the issue. It turned out to be that I scaled the VE tables too low. This caused poor engine vacuum and stinky condition at idle, and a very rough general operation. It also seemed to foul the plugs? I still dont understand that. It now idles pretty solidly, +/- 50 rpm within target with ~50 KPA in park and ~60 in drive.
