help with bin

I have an 87 305 700r4 3.73 geared w ac 4x4 truck. It has a 1227747 ecm with a ABHM prom id in it. I can't find the bin anywhere, I don't want to buy a burner to read it because I want to use an Ostrich from moates. Anybody have a clue about where to find a copy of that bin?

Re: help with bin

I did, I am not begging for somebody to burn a prom for me, I have searched here, fullsize chevy, moates, diy and can't find a reference to this prom, I really don't want to buy a burner just to read a prom 1 time besides which, if I do that, it blows my Ostrich budget. I am not trying to circumvent the posting rules, just looking to figure out why I can't find this prom ID anywhere

Re: help with bin

i don't know where you could find it at, but it looks like ADTS is a update for ABHM.
ADTS shows to be for correcting false codes 43 & 54, & also for an unstable idle.
an older version of ABHM shows to be BXF.

try posting at Moates, TunerPro & fullsize chevy for them, maybe you'll get lucky
if you do find one of them, post it to Moates file manager please.

Re: help with bin

The trouble you are having is the fact that MOST people that are tuning have built up their engines some or rebuilt it with different heads/cams. The 305 is chunked to the curb more often than not for a 350. The net is FULL of 350 calibrations, but you will rarely find a 305 cal for a truck. I have a few 305 calibrations from fullsize vans when I was running TBI on my 1983 G20 Vans 305 w/700r4

Thanks DENN_SHAH
Fast355 ok, that I understand, which calibrations did you use, and would they be adaptable to my situation?

Jim, I checked what PROMs I have on hand and do not have that one, or the one DENN posted. With those being California calibrations they are going to be a little tougher to get.

If you have to start with that BIN your best bet is to find someone to read it for you. I'll do it if you mail me the PROM. Otherwise since you will be changing the calibration start with one with a federal emissions standard.

RBob.

P.S. asking for a stock BIN isn't 'PROM begging', asking for a modified BIN or some one to tune for you is.

Re: help with bin

RBob, thanks for the reply, its my usual luck, I get something and its just different enough that I have problems finding stuff. anyways, I am not sure if that is a California calibration as I bought the truck in Ore. I also am not sure what to look for to determine if it is a california calibration as all the smog stickers were missing off the truck when I got it. Is there something in the tables that would tell me after I have it read. Thanks for the offer, but it is my DD and I need the 4wd to get up and down my driveway in the snow right now. I will try to find somebody local that can do that for me. What would be a good federal bin to start with?

Re: help with bin

The bcc ADTT is the latest Federal calibration for that truck. The others are California calibrations.

Re: help with bin

my book doesn't give me a break down of what is a Federal or a California calibration.
it only lists by Bcc. but, thanks to RBob posting ADTT, i found a few others that should work.
i'll list them all here & what they were suppose to fix if noted.
im pretty sure these have the problems that the last 3 fix, BXR, ABHH, ABHN, BWX, ADSU, ABFR, AHJ

ADTM, false codes 43, 54 & unstable idle.
ADTT, false codes 43, 54 & unstable idle.
AMUB, false service soon light.

in one place it shows AMUB to be the latest update, in another it shows ADTT as the latest, so i think either of those would be the most desirable with ADTM third in line.
maybe RBob or Fast has one of these handy.

Re: help with bin

ok, now i see how these prom versions work, ABHN is one version after my ABHM bin. I got on moates and downloaded a couple of LO3 bins, ABHC and ADTJ, both older versions than what we are talking about here. I will try next week to get the time to take my truck up to the computer dept at OIT and get the prom read there (I am an adjunct at the local community college, and my wife is technically an adjunct at OIT so I can probably get somebody to do that for me.) Then I can compare the ABHC and ABHM proms and see if I can find the differences. You folks here on this forum have been a tremendous help, makes me glad I joined.
