frustrated...cruise surging and rich idle...

hi all...

after tuning around the whole day, i´m frustrated now...

engine is a 396 with 10.8:1 comp, single plane EFI, XFI467cam, AFR 195cc heads, 30#inj, ´727 ECM

idle BLM´s are 114-120 (already changed the O2 constants for idle)
the car is surging and bucking under light throttle, even at 3000 rpm, where the cam already should work (tightened up the prop gains already)
the car must be always under light load to suppress the bucking...

spark retard works? in a way, i dont understand...sometimes it subtracts SA, sometimes not....

i really dont know what to do anymore...

any help would be greatly appreciated, i can also send the log and bin files...

EDIT: bin and uni file attached!!

thank you

Reinhold

Re: frustrated...cruise surging and rich idle...

hi!!

ok, did the following things...

messaged the main SA table...
reworked the idle SA error vs rpm tables
knock attack/knock retard tables

the car runs much better now, its driveable near stock now...crusing is fun now, little to no jerking....

one thing i noticed via WbO2....

when the car is cold to half warm, when i step on the throttle, AFR goes to about 16:1 and a slight hesitation occur...this especially when taking off with low throttle (0-10%TPS), Map doesnt really change here

when the car is warm, the AFR stays at 14.7:1 at tip-in...

so, i will adjust the AE tables a bit more...

i will also send you the .bin and .uni file, so you can take a look, if you want

greetings

Reinhold

I am having the same problem with my 383 except I run the '165 ecm. Even at 70mph it will buck and jerk if I don't have a light load on it. This thing is great when you call on it but crusing is a pain.

If I may ask, did you add timing or take it out? I think I'm around 35 degrees total advance now.

Thanks,
Dewayne

hi Dewayne

i added some timing in the cruise area of the SA table that helped really a lot..(thanks to gta324), partially up to 43° in the higher rpm 40-60kpa regions...

Once I figure out where 40-60 kpa wold be on a MAF system I should be able to calm it down now. I'm running 93 octane with an octane booster now, maybe I can get the timing that high.

Thanks.
