idle's high while coasting

I'm tuning a built motor and when your going to slow down and clutch it it will be idleing at 2700 rpm's. It won't idle down untill the car comes to a complete stop, any thoughts?

See the " Vacuum leak? IAC reads 0 in idle" post.

Look into the throttle follower calibration. If you started with an auto calibration find a stick cal and compare the IAC parameters. Big differences between stick & auto.

Also make sure tha the prk/neu wire to the ECM is open. This puts it in 'drive' for a stick.

Re: idle's high while coasting

ok from what i've been reading it sounds like the iac but I just unhooked it and it still does it when I get to about 2mph and when stopped the rpms fall to 900rpms like it would if you were switching it off. I'm not sure how to do a idle learn, do you just take the battery cable off for a while and then start it and let it idle?

For an idle learn with a stick it is as you posted. Let it run until the fan cycles and you are done.

For the coast down high RPM, maybe too much drag in the transmission? Other item to check is the spark advance, is it being held high during coast down?

so to do a idle learn I should start the car and let it set and idle untill the fan comes on?
And far as the drag on the transmission I don't think it would be that becouse the idle jumps up when the car gets to about 2 mph.

Idle learn: disconnect battery for 10 seconds and reconnect. Start engine with no other loads (A/C, back light heater, steering wheel movement, etc.), then let engine run until the fan cycles on then off. Done.

What does the data log show during coast down? For the engine speed to jump up something has to show up in the log.

Re: idle's high while coasting

Right now I can only datalog sitting in driveway with a desktop computer which won't show the idle jump, my laptop won't connect to datalog. Here in a couple days i'm taking the laptop to a electronic's guy to see if he can get it to connect, I believe it has something to do with having 4 usb ports. I'll get back when I can get a datalog, thanks for everyone's help.

Re: idle's high while coasting

Ok, Messing around today and I have found out what makes it idle high when your driving it and you let off the gas. I changed the Min Speed For Idle (Upper Hyst) to 82.9 mph and changed the Min Speed For Idle ( Lower Hyst) also to 82.9 mph and now when you let off the gas it falls down to the set idle. But one catch its aggervating due to it will jerk when you do give it gas now. Does anyone know what it is and how to actually set the Upper and Lower Hyst.

Re: idle's high while coasting

well got it to datalog and here they, are the one that is idle for some reason isn't idling high like it was looks about right. The other 2 are wot runs, going by the o2 volts it is staying around 14.7, and I guess the knock counts is coming from the headers leaking which I disabled it for now. Does anything else look wrong? Does the wot afr need adjusting and isn't that done in the PE? This is my first time tuning. How can I post them it says invalid file?

Re: idle's high while coasting

The 446 mV O2 report looks to be the default. I don't see the O2 sensor doing anything. As though it is disconnected.

Re: idle's high while coasting

It may be, I noticed yesterday while sitting and idling it would stay in open loop untill i gave it a little gas and when I let off it it would go back to open loop again, if it stays in open loop would it show a default? The car has headers. It will be a couple days before I can get back to tuning it again.
