Couple q's before I burn my first chip

I have been reading the tuning stickies and searching things to get me ready to start tuning.
I have a buddy who is going to burn me a new chip with the 6E definition since my stock chip might be corrupt. All my sensors are giving good readings, but randomly the datalog will have spurts of really weird readings.
Couple questions:
1. When changing from 32b to 6e what are the crank fuel multipliers I have read about?
2. What do I need to do to them since the cold start injector will not be used? Increase fuel startup I’m guessing? How do I do that?
3. I have a stock 88 350 auto (100% stock, no headers, no free mods etc), what is the bin for that car?
4. I have a bin for a stock 89 350 auto. Is there any major difference between the two? Other than vats, no cold start injector etc..
5. Can I just use the 89 bin disable vats, cold start injector, reverse the fan N/O switch, adjust crank fuel multipliers, and add the 6E definition and have it run the way it should?

Basically im going to start by just adding the 6e to an 89bin, datalog that, and go from there.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

If you move to the $6E definition and an '89 bin file, you should be good to go. Just unplug the 9th injector. The '89 bin that I started tuning with was the ARAP bin. Originally, I had a 350 auto like you.

Good to know. I thought ARAP was a vette bin? No? I have a ARAP, maybe ill use that one.

The ARAP bin is considered a performance bin file for a MAF 350 Auto vehicles. Starting with that bin seemed to me a good thing to do.

ARAP is a 'Vette BIN for use with the aluminum headed L98. The spark timing is aggressive and will need to be reduced for an iron headed L98. You will need to disable VATs and possibly invert the fan output polarity. These are all calibration parameters.

ARAP will have a long crank time unless the crank PW table at $038B is changed.

I plan on eventually doing some performance upgrades, but right now the engine is 100% stock. Should i still use it?

AUJM would be a better choice. That is a $6E mask, FED, 5.7l '89 TPI, 3.27 rear with a 700R4 transmission. Other then VATs and deleting/disabling the cold start injector it would be a drop in. Although, a heads up on the fan relay polarity, some years they are changed. So if the fan runs on a cold engine then will need to change that parameter.

AUJL is a sister calibration for a 2.77 rear.

Note that these are both f-body calibrations.

I found a ANYJ bin. It is a stock 1989 350 a4 AC 2.77. Thats the one i have been playing with.

Thats bin is exactly what my car is.

Does the code really matter what rear you have? would it even make a difference.

ANYJ is an early release for the '89 MY (mid '88). You may find that it doesn't always run right. While AUJM & AUJL are later releases (in '90, which means that they are 'fix-it' calibrations).

On an auto car the TCC lock up probably varies between different rear ratios. There may also be spark timing differences.

All I ask is that you check the differences in the calibrations and summarize it in this (your) thread. It will be interesting to see what changes there are. Note that TP can do the difference for you.
