burn 2 with tuner pro bin stacking
hi guys this is my first post and i'm totally new to the programming scene. i'm trying to find out if i can burn less than 16 (16k) bins to a am29f040b chip for use in my moates g3 and still use the ex switching remote and what settings do i need to change in tuner pro rt to burn the stacked bins to a chip. i followed the inst on moates site for stacking using settings 16k bin, 512 chip, 32k block to get 16 slots and just filled them up with the same file 16 times but couldnt get it to burn to the chip. and when i try to put less than 16 tunes in a stack it says error opening bins pos 4 thru f , bad positions filled with zeros. what do i have to change to write to only say 4 slots and how will that effect the ex remote's switching slots. also when i try to burn a 16 file stack to the 040b chip (16 of the same file just to try it out) it comes up with errors 1) chip start address must be divisible by 64, 2) chip mem range must be div by 64, 3) source mem range should be div by 64. my chip start is 07de68 and end is 07ffff my buffer start is 000000 and end is 002197. these are the values that came up when i selected the 040b chip. is there a link to tell me how to properly stack and burn bins and how to figure out the start and end values for my stack and chip size. sorry i have so many questions but i have had a hard time finding info on my specific combo of hardware and software.

Re: burn 2 with tuner pro bin stacking
well i finally got the chip to burn with 16 bins on it but my only question now is can i stack less than 16 bins on a am29f040b chip and still use the selector (ex remote) and if so do the slots 0-f on the bin stacker correspond to the 0-f on the remote. also what do i put in the unused spots in the stacker utility and do i need to change the chip and buffer settings on the burner. i can only find documentation on addressing a 256 or 512 chip not a am29fo4ob. im using a moates g3 switching adapter and the ex remote on a gm 1227165 computer. i am having lots of trouble navigating this site using the search function so if someone could post a link i'd appreciate it

Re: burn 2 with tuner pro bin stacking
i also use a G3 and EX remote. i burn 32KB BINs, but the process should be similar. if you have everything in the BIN stacker set up correctly(16KB BIN, 32KB Block Size, 4MiB(512KB) chip size, then the positions the stacker shows WILL corespond directly with what the EX shows, as long as the little thumbwheel on the G3 is set to 0 when you start.
if you're using the flash and burn software, or the little window for it inside of TP, then just select the correct chip, select your stacked BIN and burn. DO NOT mess with the offsets.

Re: burn 2 with tuner pro bin stacking
I use the G3 and switcher also with 32K bins but I'm thinking he should use 16K block size and use every other slot.
The reason being is that the bin must be at the end of the address space if it is smaller than the block size and you can't set the offset properly in the 32k block within the stacking setup.
It will look like you can do 32 bins (buit you can only select 16 with the switcher)
This will load the bin at the end of each 32k "selectable" block.
Made sense when I typed it,
IIRC, You do need to put something in each slot to keep the stacker happy. Just remember the bins at the end of each space are the ones that will be run.

IIRC, setting the block size to 32 and using a 16KB BIN pushed the 16 into the upper half... but i can't confirm that.

Re: burn 2 with tuner pro bin stacking
i imagine one could test it by putting a 16KB BIN into a 32KB block and open it up in the hex editor to see where it went.

Re: burn 2 with tuner pro bin stacking
according to moates i can use 16k bin 512 chip and 32k block size and it will work and that did work when i burned 16 files but when i try to leave any of the slots on the stacker blank it says error reading bins in that slot and says the values will be zero'd. i just didnt know if that would be a problem or not. also if i only burn one 16k bin to the chip for quick swaps to verify a tune, and use the flashandburn utility without stacking which portion of the chip (which of the 16 slots) is the bin burned to in relation to the remote. or do i have to change the jumpers in the g3 to put it in bypass mode like the g1 to only use one bin w/o stacking or the remote...... i bought the am29f040b chips w/o thinking of quick chip swaps and sometimes i just want to load one bin to check the changes since i dont have an emmulator, but plan on having multiple tunes once they are all refined. you guys are alot of help thanks in advance. check out the caption about bin reversal under the bin stacker screenshot on this link and youll probably understand why a noob could be so confused. by the way this is all 4 a 78 chevy pickup with a worked tpi 350 swap that was destined for my camaro untill i found the ls1. http://www.moates.net/documentation.php?documentation_id=11
