Widebands with simulated narrowband???

Back in the day I was going to buy a Zeitronix Zt-2 because it specifically offered the following:

"Simulated and adjustable Narrowband Output to feed a stock ECU"

Last I looked, 6 years ago, it was the only kit which did. My goal is to run the heated WB sensor full time in my vehicle by replacing the 3 wire heated narrow band Denso sensor I currently have. I was going to re-pin my harness so the WB went straight to an unused pin so I could program the raw WB data to be viewable in my ads/adx data stream and then run the simulated narrowband output into the same pin on the ECU the original one was.

Is anyone else doing this?

Thanks!

Re: Widebands with simulated narrowband???

While I haven't set mine up like that yet it is capable of doing so. I have an Innovate LC-1 installed in my Datsun, been there for almost two years now. I haven't started it yet this year, but I will calibrate it before I do, just like I did last year.
Anyway...

Most WBO2 sensor now seem to have the simulated NB output or an analog output that can be programmed for a NB simulate, in fact I can't think of one that doesn't offer that, that is marketed to the tuning community.

Re: Widebands with simulated narrowband???

Wow, then that's awesome that most offer this now.

Second then I guess is my inherent distrust of all things Bosch most especially when it comes to o2 sensors. I use Denso only.

I know there are different types of o2, like linear, etc. I don't know them all. I want one that will be easy to make tables for in TP5 adx files and also be compatible with Denso WB sensors and not Bosch.

Any recommendations? Or is this an all Bosch o2 forum now lol...

The Bosch wideband sensors are actually pretty good, i've been using mine with a WMS controller for several years and never had issues.

BTW, the WMS unit has a simulated NB output although i never liked the output signal. I ended up welding in another bung and installing a stock GM 4 wire next to the WB.

I am on my current Bosch for about 36 months now of use. I drive the car 4 days each week. I found life of sensor determined by correct optimal placement in ext stream. It does not like excessive heat. I also use and recommend the extendo SS bung be used.

I've had an LC1 wired like that for 3yrs now and no problems yet. A linear output makes it easier to input to the datastream since you don't need to use a lookup table to convert it. Just a simple formula.

Re: Widebands with simulated narrowband???

How is the longetivity of the sensor for long term use as both a WB and NB 02?

I have a friend with one and while the sensor has never failed on him, as far as I know...it has to be free-air calibrated way too much to be reliable as a NB 02.

Thoughts? Ways to be sure the thing won't require free air cal's a lot?

I'm getting ready to install mine just ahead of my cat in the y-pipe. Figure that should be a cool enough area and both banks merge by then of course.

So on your LC-1, you have the alternate analog output programmed to perform as the simulated narrowband signal for the stock ECU?

EDIT: I just ordered the LC-1 because it was cheaper than the Zt-2 and if I use code$59 I don't even need the simulated NB.

Yep. Works better than the stock sensor. You only need to recalibrate it once a year after the first couple 'break-in' calibrations.
