Looks like its in development. Since I have an android phone, I'm interested!
Cool. Since I have EBL now though, I really need EBL specific software I think. Not sure if the old serial lines do anything. It's been a while...

ALDLdroid has been released for about 2 weeks now. Still some "beta" testing going on, but it is now usable on several cars as is. You need an OBD1 BT adapter (from RDR for example), an Android device of course, and an ADX file for the car.

Might just get one of the BT adapters for Christmas
Would be a nice adder to my current setups.
I don't see the app avilable for DL.
Does it take completed ADX defs or would it be able to modify it through the app?
That would be helpful for comm issues.

ALDLdroid is available on Google Play but is for Android 2.2 or higher only, so it will not appear on Google Market in case you are looking there. You can't download the app except to install it to a device as far as I know.

It does take complete ADX files, but it is in it's infancy and there may be some bugs/crashes. If so, file a report including your email address and a short description of the defect. A lot will depend on how well written/edited the ADX file is done. The author is responsive to the complaints because there are relatively few users so far. You can find conversations with him at : http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...2318-ALDLdroid

As far as I now, it has no ability to edit the ADX files, but you could just download TunerProRT and use that to edit (and scan). It is free with a nag screen.

Most of the problems I have had are with the particular ADX file I was using and the fact that I have an old, slow phone.

Re: Android app for ALDL?

attn MarkM, eaglemark and craig: if you had a translator sinking the obd1 output from the aldl in the car, i guess you'd need a pared-down java version of your tunerpro app running in the mobile device (or even a full blown port) to source you the live data.

you could recompile your c-source using the native language feature of the android dev environment, but you might be using native MS API calls in your current code requiring porting tp the gnu compiler. It may even be possible. But what kind of interest would you get from obd1 people, would it even be profitable to invest the time and effort?
