L98 smells like running rich after T56 swap.

Recently I had converted my 89 GTA to manual T56. Speedo working correctly with Dakota digital box and no codes. Car drives fine as well, but immediately after the swap I'm noticing a gas or smell of running rich? Any ideas? Do I need to do anything with my torque converter lockup wires/pigtail? Also, since the speedo signal from the transmission gets split to 2 places, one to the speedo and one to the ECM, I routed the dakota digital signal to the node before they split so I wouldn't have to run an extra wire to the ECM, is that ok to do? Does the speedo and ECM get the same signal? I'm not getting any codes and speedo is working fine.

Right.
You're running the Automatic PROM.
Keep them away from exhaust.
That's fine.
No; they get different signal.

A lot of this is covered here, though a 5.7L manual PROM wasn't made for the f-body:

Thanks jmd. Another question, if the car isn't wired to think it's in D as opposed to P or N, will that effect anything besides idle speed? Does it effect fuel air mixture?

i'm sure everything is way off ... replace to a manual bin file everything else should be ok for the most part

That is on the to do list, however, why would it run rich from the swap? The power is there but I noticed if I rev it, the first blip it hesitates a very slightly and then revs fine. No hesitation elsewhere except the first blip from idle when revving. Could someone provide me with a technical explanation? Is it due to different inertial load because of the difference in weight from having a torque converter to now a flywheel?

Also, is there a quick way to determine if the car is wired to think it's in 'D' without me taking the center console out again?... (I forgot what I did to the 2 wires, orange w/blk stripe and black w/wht stripe, that should be unjumped for the ECM to think it's in 'D')

Do I need to even worry about those wires if my PROM is going to get tuned or uploaded with a manual .bin file?

Anyone? The PROM is going to get flashed on the weekend so I'd really appreciate someone's input on this please?

until you open a bin file there is to much to list. Download tunerpro find a auto bin and manual bin and run a compare that will help you understand why it's need.... these ECMs are a lot smarter then you would think.... good luck
