ALDL data reading issue
I can't get my Acttron scanner to read codes let alone do any live data reading. But it will do the service light check/engine light test, and that works fine.
I did have this issue about a year ago, and then all of a sudden my scanner just starting reading both codes and live data. Although its been a year since I used my scanner, I don't think I'm doing anything different than last time, but unlike last time it started working after a couple of days of playing around with it. Where now I've been playing with it for a couple of weeks, with no results other than the service light/engine light test working.
So does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is happening, and/or what I can try to get this issue resolved.

Re: ALDL data reading issue
to get the codes to flash it is a short between A & B terminals of the ALDL connector.
To get data out you need a 10K resistance between them IIRC.

Thanks for replying!
Could you be more specific as to what I need to do, or direct me to a link on directions of how to get use/install etc. the 10k resistance so I can read the data?

Here are some good threads describing what the problem could be.

Re: ALDL data reading issue
I'd like to try doing this 10k resistance, but I don't know what I need exactly or how I need to connect this 10k resistance to A and B terminals. Does anyone have pictures, and/or link/s to do this?

Re: ALDL data reading issue
On the USB ALDL cable I had it had a jumper for 10k the autoprom I use now it has a jumper for 10k also so either theres something in the software or its a jumper to do 10k to get the info flowing. post some pics or a model # of this scanner.
