Dropping out of PE at WOT?

I run $8d mask in a 7730, a couple of weeks ago I when to the track and did some dataloging, the car ran okay but needed some changes to the bin.

Looking at my datalog in TP v5, I noticed the timing would not hold steady at WOT but it did stay mostly around 29*, so that was the first thing I fixed, now it stays at 34* straight through my passes.

The other thing that I needed to change was that looking at my NB, it would lean out some from 5000 rpm and up, so I added VE in my uper tables and changed PE from 4800 up.

These are the only things I changed from my last bin but now at WOT at about 5500-5600 rpm my target AFR goes to 14.7 and my O2 volts start to drop to 480 mv. Does mean that its dropping out of PE and is so what could cause this?

I'm going to load my previous bin and if the weather is good I'll take the car out and get a log, to see if it happens that way I can eliminate mechanical failure, though I dont think its mechanical. I just cant seem to find anything in the code that would make it go to stoich at 100% tps.

the only thing i can think of is the blm is moving at WOT. not sure which mask you are using but there may be a bit that locks the blm at 128 during PE

Check the TPS voltage in the data log. If it goes too high the ECM can think it is bad and drop out of PE mode. And can do this without setting a code.

Of course the TPS may be bad and is going to zero during the run.

Or the connector/wires have an issue and the ECM is getting bad info from the TPS.

RBob.

Re: Dropping out of PE at WOT?

Thank you guys for the help/advice.

So I have a chance to get some datalogs in before the rain started.

As for to high TPS voltage, all my logs hold a steady .30-.29 volts at WOT.
Here are some logs, the first one is from the day I ran at the track, it was the only log that day the recorded, I ran a 13.64 at 103 with some wheel spin out of the hole.

I used this log to come up with my new changes, the only mechanical change to the car since that run was a 3200 stall converter. So looking at the log I saw that timing was not steady, so this was the first thing I changed. Next was it looked to be leaning out so from 5500 rpm and up, so I added fuel in those cells. I also changed the uper PE table to command a theoretical 11.47 AFR. The one other thing I did change to the bin was for the TCC to lock at 50 instead 38 mph.

So I did two quick logs yesterday and they looked like this.

Re: Dropping out of PE at WOT?

As you can see, some where in the high 5000 rpm range it goes to 14.73 which is what my stoich is set at.

So I did two more logs today just to verify, in the first one today it didn't go to 14.73, but I missed second gear and shifted to third, so it did a quick two-three shift. The second one I did shift in seconed and it went to 14.73.

Re: Dropping out of PE at WOT?

I loaded my old bin from the day of my track run and it does not come out of PE but the funny thing is is that when it goes to commanded 12.25 AFR, it leans out real bad. It didn't do this at the track, at all two weeks ago, if you look at that first log the O2 volts only drop to about .700 mv.

OK, then don't even need to look at the logs/graphs. If the TPS is steady at .30-.29 volts at WOT, then the ECM thinks or knows that the TPS value is wrong.

RBob.

Re: Dropping out of PE at WOT?

Thanks RBob, looking back at my first log I see that the TPS volts is at .23 and all the newer logs are between .27-.30, I'll have to take a looks at that and see whats going on.
