Re: $59 Starter bin for 3.1L turbo

Is dig's 60lb base bin still available? Use that and just scale the base pulse constant vs egr table til the car is able to run.

may want to disable quasi fuel mode too.

You can also just take a known 730 VE table and paste it into $59 and then play with the base pulse width vs egr table til motor runs. Thats how I did my 401....well I took a stock L98 ve table and started from there since I had no known 400 V8 VE table.

Re: $59 Starter bin for 3.1L turbo

yeah with code $59, it takes some time to setup since there really isnt a base bin for anything other than a stock 3.8/4.3 or w/e turbo truck motor. Basically grab the base truck bin and start from scratch.

Once you can get it to fire and idle you can start to scale the VE table and start tuning from there...but getting it to fire and idle does take some trial and error.

Re: $59 Starter bin for 3.1L turbo

As I said in the PM, I started with the V4 starter bin and tuned from there.

I did try the V2 and V3 starter bins, but they didn't seem to have enough base fuel fuel in them for my application. That is the difference between the 4 starter bins, amount of "fuel" in the VE tables, they are all the same curves, just higher VE numbers in the higher numbered starter bins.

You'll likely be surprised how easy it is to get it to start and run with the base $59 BINs.

I had a bit of trouble with mine, simply because I didn't realize the IAC port was blocked due to the gasket I used. I adjusted the F28 table until it would run (took about 20 minutes IIRC), then after getting the car off the jackstands (I had to check for leaks since it was a fresh EFI conversion on a previously carbureted vehicle), it took me about 5 minutes to get it driveable, there was some slight bucking at part throttle accel, that need to be rid of, then it's been great since then, with the tweaking I've done.

As far as MS is concerned, I've read numerous stories where guys can't get their cars running for days or weeks, after an MS install, even with known running (on other engines) MSQs. This is still just one of the many reasons I prefer the Delco ECM for conversions.

Re: $59 Starter bin for 3.1L turbo

Here:http://www.code59.org/index.php?opti...tid=10&id=1927

The V18 you are seeing is the current code59 version available to the public, it is what most or maybe all of the current bins are based on.

Sorry, I was calling the starter bins V1, V2, etc, I see they are just numbered -1, -2, -3 and -4.

The V5 you are seeing is likely the XDF and ADX, that work with TunerPro V5

listen to six as he has this code running on a v6

as for the guys who cant get there cars running for days, most of them just dont read the dam manual

my first megasquirt install took 6 hours and once it was installed i had the car running in about 20 mins, within an hour had it running good enough to drive around town and after that was able to drive it on the highway.

most ms issues come from ppl that dont pay attention to directions or mis wire something

i really do liek the ms for simplicity though

set injector constant
fill the ve map with values of 40 ( most cars idle from 30-40% ve values in the idle cells )
set cold start enrichment value
set base ignition map

hit the key start motor and verify base timing
then start dataloging and adjusting ve table

if the motor fires but dosent stay running u only need to adjust the cold start enrichments

Re: $59 Starter bin for 3.1L turbo

i can supply u with a ve table, u will have to convert it over to work with the stock ecms tables though.

but it will give u a good idea of the values u will need at what rpms and boost levels

u have the 260 cam right?

I don't want to get into a pissing match about this, but from what I read in the threads that are like this, is that most of these people did their homework, try everything that the people on forums tell them, check their wiring several times, and have troubles with getting an initial fire. Now some were incorrect mechanical items, but many turned out to be the MS itself, or some obscure setting that changed "somehow" when it was uploaded, due to different firmwares, or something slightly different than what someone else is running.

let me know if u need help understanding that but thats some base values to get ur fueling pretty close, might be slightly rich as this was for a 3.4 with 252 cam and 48# injectors

the injectors size wont matter much as ur ecm will scale the values apropratly when u change the injector constant

Re: $59 Starter bin for 3.1L turbo

rpm bins are across the top of the bottom table
map mins are the ones down the left side of the bottom table
i.e for rpm bins
[ 0] = 600 rpm [ 1] = 1100 rpm

for the map values
[ 0] = 30 kpa [ 1] = 40 kpa [ 2] = 50 kpa

etc etc

0vac/0boost is 100kpa anything under 100kpa is vacum
107kpa = 1 psi
114kpa = 2 psi
etc etc
