1990 305 vs 350 prom

will either prom work on a 1990 7730 ecu? The prom will need to be reprogrammed either way for my 78mm turbo 383.

I read something about the 305 proms not being programmable in these years and that I would need a 350 prom.

As long as it has the window it can be erased and re-burned. GM did use some one time programmables, those are in plastic packages with no window.

More than likely yes but you need to remove the broadcast code sticker to see the crystal window to see if it is a uv eprom. The knock board is not the same frequency from a 305 to a 350 but it will work if that is all you have.

For all the dataloging and tuning you will need to do to get this tune dialed in you might consider going with dynamic efi's ebl p4. If you weigh the cost of a apu1 , g1 and some sst27sf512's and all the work you need to do it will save you alot of time and frustration.

I'm having a hard time following much of anything tuning related on these motors. It's like a foreign language to me. Basically that is allowing me to tune from a laptop in the vehicle without having to touch the prom?

It took me about 6 months to a year to get a grip on it and most of us are still learning. It's do able if you are patient.
