ALDL1 Moates cable won't connect

Guys, I bought a ALD1 usb cable from Moates.net years ago now I need to connect using TunerPro (which I did a long time ago but forgot all the details). I seem to be able to connect (correct com port) but I keep getting a message that says Mismatched ADS and XDF file. I am using the $6E code for my '87 TPI camaro. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong it seems like I need additional software to make this work.

You can usually ignore that warning, if all you are doing is looging or watching the data stream.

the issue with a mismatched ADX and XDF is if you have data tracing set-up, it may not be correct.

I have the same problem, but get no error message. It's like the ALDL isn't even there. Is there a way to test the cable/connection?

Also, is it as simple as plugging in the ALDL/USB cable and hit connect? Or am I missing steps?

Open your XDF and go to Edit, View Edit Header Info and look for the DA Assoc tab and click it. Remove the link to explict ADX file and that problem will go away.

Plug your cable into laptop, no need for vehicle, and go to Control Panel, Device Manager, find the com port number and check driver. Should be:
Driver FTDI
Date 4/10/2012
Version 2.8.24.0 or higher.

Do the same for the USB Serial Converter.

Open TunerPro RT and go to Tools, Preferences, Data Acquisisition/Emulation, Choose Use Plug in, configure plug in and make sure it is on the correct Comm port, Test for Valid Interface using settings... with cable plugged in.

So with cable plugged in you found it in device manager as Com port 3, drivers are correct, TunerPro is set to Comm 3 and tests good? Don't worry it does not test good connected to vehicle.

With TunerPro open click View, Toolbars and check them all, these icons are easier to learn then all the others under like Acquisition, Tools etc...

Click Acquisition Load Definition File and choose your ADX for data looging.

Connect cable to vehicle, vehicle running, TunerPro running and Acquisition Start/Stop Data scan or click on the 2 arrows icon up top, also click on the folder icon or Acquisition Show Data Lists and data should show... this is how I do it and then click record, when you stop recording it will prompt you to save the file with a name.

*LAST RESORT BUT NOT DANGEROUS!*
Or uninstall all USB in device manager and restart, let it install what's on laptop, then first thing to plug in is cable and make sure the above drivers are installed.
*End last resort for drivers*

Stay Tuned!

Got this far. Where do I get the the ADX I need?

If these are all noob questions, feel free to send me to a link where I can read up on the basics. All I want to do here is scan, I have a good dyno tune guy to get into changes etc.

Thanks for your help. Sorry if the thread is getting hijacked . . .

Depends which car?

Take a look at this speadsheet and look up your car for files needed, then there is links next to it.

OK, thanks, this is for a 92 LB9 w/ 1227730 ecm, downloaded the BIN (AXXC), XDF, and ADX I needed. Tunerpro "failed to load" the BIN and XDF files I downloaded; do I not need to load them?

Also, I noticed an AXCN BIN for a 91 6spd Vette - - is that any use to me? Its engine parameters will be closer to mine - - 400 hp 383 w/T56.
