hey guys,
so ive beentuning my car so far this year with no issues.... today that changed.
i burned a chip in which i only changed the PE vs RPM table. im using a MAF 165 ECM.
the car would crank and sound like it wanted to fire but wouldnt...
up until today, no issues.
heres what i did..
-tried 6 times to burn the chip, shut down laptop...tried again, same result.
-unpluggged my bettery from the car for a bit, reased chip and tried again....nothing
-verified my moates burn 1 offsets for the buffer..same again.
check with a paperclip of any hidden codes...no hidden codes.
tried again...nothing.
-tried a spare ecm, same result

its not in limp mode as the fan and fuel pump arent on when you turn the ignition on.
not sure what to do next or if there is anything im forgetting to try...
thats where i turn to the guru's.... YOU guys.

any help would be appreciated, using tunerpro and have only had this happen last year once... maybe just being finicky as its 25 year old technology..but i dont know.

Any chance you grabbed a BIN that has VATs enabled?

I haven't checked that as the bin I've been using/modifying has not given me any issues...just took out 20 percent on mid range fuel and this happened....it cranks and almost wants to fire..just won't catch

checked the VATS... its disabled. i have fuel, i have spark.. still no start.

i could really use some guidance here.

 

Do you keep your old bins saved? Burn your last good bin and see if it starts, it could be a issue with the car and not the bin.

 

Ya I tried the bin that was in the car, same thing...it's defiantly something else... I can floor the pedal and it will fire but won't stay running unless I feather it...checked the coil, tps,injector resistance and voltage of the injectors..everything is fine in that aspect...
Now im stumped

 

Fuel pressure?

 

I have fuel.pressure and it does not drop..I sat and watched the gauge for a couple mins

 

Changed the coolant temp sensor... Still wouldn't run unless I was on the throttle... Seems like it is a fuel related issue... However im new to the whole electrical aspect of the car... Anywhere that I can start?

 

It sounds as though the MAF went bad. During cranking the MAF isn't used, once the engine is running the ECM will switch over to using the MAF.

Holding the pedal on the floor during cranking is a clear flood mode. The injector PW is reduced.

Ok I'll hook up the aldl cable tonight and see if there are any abnormalities while it's running... That would give some sort.of.idication on if it's starting to crap out.

 

It was a bad IAC valve.. It was stuck closed... Thanks for the inputs
