Beginner Questions
I know GROOAAAANN, Again?
Talking about a 92 $8 AXXB mask. I have pulled the 'Original Prom Chip' from the car. Installed TunerPro RT with the Moates Burner 2. Down loaded the XDF and ADX files, installed in TunerPro.
I was able to read the Prom. and save to a file on the Computer. I am able to read the Bin file, looking at Tables, Flags and Scalers.
1st thing that I need help with is how to 'Turn off' the VATS. Nothing indicates where to look on the Bin File.
I have been reading everything I can on this page. Most of the links are broken.
I came across a Post labeled "Programming PROMs for your Thirdgen Fuel Injected F-Body: Part I" where it talks about how to remove VATS in the Flags section. I looked at the Flags in the BIN file and I do not see this flag for VATS.
What am I missing?

Re: Beginner Questions
It may be different in the XDF you are using:
"Switch 16 (VATS TCC-R 4th-NO VATS OLP) - Bit 4 - VATS"

Re: Beginner Questions
I was using an XDF File from Code 59. I just found an $8d.xdf file I open in notepad, and low and behold I found the description for the VATS .
I will upload the NEW XDF file and see what we will see.
Thank you for the help.

Re: Beginner Questions
It would now be corrupt.
The XDF is a road map of the calibration. Using an XDF for a different mask would be like navigating NYC using a map of Chicago. It really wouldn't work & messes thing up. And will corrupt the calibration.

Re: Beginner Questions
Good luck with your tuning endeavor. You have many hours of reading and learning ahead of you.
Word of wisdom, what ever you do, keep your original AXXB .bin stored somewhere and double backed-up. Every time you modify your .BIN make note of modification and reason for it + create a new version. 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 2.1, etc... You can enter your version in the PROM ID, whatever numbering system you want to use. When you data log, you can have the PROM ID displayed, so your data log matches the .BIN you use. That way when you want to go back you can ID: the .BIN version you where using at the time of data log. You can then refer to your notes on what was modified compare to the previous .BIN.
Cheers
