really weird electrical problem

when i get home after a night of cruising or whatever, and i turn the car off, my temp guage keeps on rising after the car was off. but it stops when you click the headlights off to just the running lights on. pull the **** back out to headlights and it starts going back up. turn the switch all the way off and it goes back down. whats up with this. also the battery drains down in like 8 hours. i need a guage to test pull on the battery but i dont have one. any ideas what is causing all this.

Have you added any electrical components lately? I know once when I pulled off my guage cluster I installed it wrong and got my fuel guage to keep going up and up and up, which would have been nice if it was true. It just seems like something is wired incorrectly, that's why I asked if you have added anything lately. The battery could drain if you wired something up so that when the key isn't in the on or accessory position some component is always hot and on.

the only thing i have done recently is a intake/carb/distributor swap and added some headers. so i dont know what i could have done. i just need a tester so i can just pull fuses and see whats draining it.
