VATS problem or no?
VATS problem or no?
Please hear me out.
My car ran fine. I swapped out the steering column, and now she won't start. The computer kicks out a code 53, but why would it do that when I simply reinstalled a different column? . I tried the VATS bypass anyways but it didn't work. I then had to swap out ignition cylinders b/c I lost my keys. Now VATS is definitely an issue, so I burned a chip w/o VATS and that didn't do anything either.
So, the car won't start. All accessories do work, just no fuel pump, no cranking at all. The security light comes on, but then goes out. What could I have done or NOT done? Could the neutral safety switch be involved?
I also removed the airbag, but that shouldn't do anything, right?
I'm desperate...this has been going on for over a week.
Thanks,
MILT

While swapping your sterring column did you maybe hooked and snaped a cable somewhere ? I'm saying that because a sterring column is a heavy piece and you could have done that without noticing anything ...also did you plug back the ignition connector ??? and signal connectors ??? maybe the new sterring column had a deffective relay on it ....
check that out and give us some info .
